She made it over the pacific before a ball of fire fell from the sky and hit her into the sea. Thorn opened her eyes and saw him. His silver skin glowed in the underwater moonbeams just barely covering his skeletal head, his chest was open to reveal his ugly black heart, and his eyes were black as coal. She stared at him for the longest minute not caring that her clothes were now ash in the sea. "I finally found you." "What do you want?" Thorn hugged her legs to her chest to cover herself and stared into his black eyes. "Come with me so that we may rule over time and space." He held out his hand and she stared at him indifferently. "No." Nekron almost fell on his face when he heard her answer. "What?" "Are you def, you earless psychopath? I said no." He could feel his black blood start to boil. "How dare you talk to your father with such a tone." She stood up, her hair swaying in the water and stared him down as black swirled into the fire of her eyes. "You are not my father." Without knowing a black dress appeared on her with the lantern symbol on her chest. Thorn ran at him threw the water and roadhouse kicked his face sending him a few feet away. As he stood up she came at him again with a right hook but he blocked it and shoved her miles away from himself. Her eyes were black and the dress flowed around her as she came at him again and again. Each time he hit her away and she would hit reefs, artificial reefs, or just rock. After a while Thorn was on the seabed coughing up black blood. "Give up child. There's no way to beat me on your own." She raised her head and smiled, black blood dripping from her mouth. "Then I won't be alone." Thorn disappeared in front of Nekron's eyes and reappeared in front of Wane manor. She staggered to the door and leaned against the wall as she rang the doorbell. The butler answered the door and almost shrieked when he saw Thorn bloody and soaking wet. "I-is Mr.Wane home?" "Dear lord Madam Thorn, what happened to you? Where have you been? It's been over a month since you left." She fell to the ground and the butler picked her up. After some time passed Thorn woke up in the tube again and found Bruce staring at her. "The butler told me you asked for me." "I-I need to find the white lantern." "White lantern hasn't been seen in years." "Please! It's the only way I can beat him!" "I'll speak to Hal and see what I can do but for now... Rest. You were fairly injured when you got here." "All right." Thorn laid back down as Bruce left the room. Days passed before Thorn woke up again feeling stiff and a bit refreshed. After stretching for a few minutes she put on the clothes that were left for her and exited the room. As she climbed the stairs she heard voices and recognized them to be Sally and Lance. But what was Lance doing with Sally? She finally got to the top and pushed open the secret door to find Sally kissing Lance in the parlor. Thorn took a step back almost falling down the staircase and felt tears run down her face. She stepped in to the room and closed the hidden door loudly, startling them. Lance was petrified when he saw her. Thorn walked passed them and Lance tried to stop her. "Love wait. It's not what it looks like." He stopped when her black eyes glared at him and seemed to penetrate right threw him. "Everything is never what it looks like isn't it? I can see into your heart and soul. She may have forcibly kissed you but you're the one that kissed her back instead of pushing her away." Lance's knees grew weak and collapsed out from under him when she finally averted her gaze from him. "Enjoy life. And never call me love again." She walked away and went into the dining room. Selina quickly stood up and ran to her giving Thorn a big bear hug. "I thought you were gone from us." "I'm afraid I'm just not that easy to kill." Selina chuckled at Thorn's joke and put her at arms length. "So.. Sally and Lance?" "Lobo's son?" Thorn nodded not making direct eye contact. "Sally must've heard you were back and invited him over." "They were kissing in the parlor." "Oh Thornie.. I'm so sorry. I know that you really liked him." "I-it doesn't matter.. I have too much to worry about that's more important than some guy." Her words were lifeless and cold. Brent came into the room and stared strait at her. "Thornie.. You're back!" He ran towards her until he noticed her black eyes. "It is you right?" Thorn snapped out of it, her eyes blazing back to life and smiled at him. "Of course. I'm sorry if I worried you." "So? What happened with Nekron?" "He asked me to rule over time and space with him." "What?!" "But I declined and was able to get one good kick in before getting my ass beat. Then I came here to ask Mr.Wane for a favor." "What favor did you need from my dad?" "I need to find a white lantern. It's the only way I can defeat him." "B-but white lanterns kill black lanterns! You'll die!" She let out a small chuckle and looked at him with sadness in her eyes. "I'm already dead anyway. What's saving the world before I'm finally gone right?" Brent rested his forehead against hers and they closed their eyes. "I -I don't want you to leave. I want you to be careful and come back to our family." "I'll do what it takes to keep y'all safe. So.. I can't make you any promises that I'll be back in one piece. But you can do one thing for me." "What's that?" He leaned away and looked into her eyes. "Don't forget me. Remember everything that we've done and don't let me fully disappear." "I wouldn't even if I could," he joked to her making Thorn smile. Suddenly Brent leaned in and had his lips against hers taking her by surprise but she didn't resist and let him kiss her. After a few minutes he stopped and had his hands around her waist. "I like you Thorn."
