Chapter Four

"I see." Mr. Ilan nodded as he stroked his mustache. May had listened intently, her knees still to her chest.

Isha was still on his back, held there by the cane. He had told them everything that happened last night, not letting anything slip.

"And when you woke up?" The old man inquired, tilting his head.

"I… thought it was all a dream… I was glad it was over. It was truly terrifying. But… Then… when I looked at the mirror… it was all there… my eyes and hair were different… I went out of my room to see… but everything was there…the tea.. the shattered window… all besides the shield… the knife… the blood….. and… the door…. The door to the room… the door that shouldn't have been there…." His eyes were wide as he began to fixate on the door. Then he froze.

"A-and the wounds! The wounds were gone…" He exclaimed, feeling panicked.

"Isha," May got a little closer and pat his head. "Take a deep breath. You need to calm down." Isha nodded and breathed in. "You're not human, not exactly." A chill ran down his spine at those words.

"Then… what am I?" He managed out, a look of fear spreading across his face. His hands clenched into fists as he stared into the old man.

"As of right now, possessed." Mr. Ilan replied. "I think you should rest, I'll explain more afterwards." Isha slowly nodded, the cane being lifted off of his chest. "May, bring Isha to a spare room upstairs, I'll re-open the café."

May nodded and helped Isha to his feet. Isha stumbled a bit, but got his footing as he let May help him walk. He thought the pain left when she removed the salt and silver water, but it only came back when he stood.

He pulled his shirt back and glanced down it, watching as the puncture from the cane began to heal itself. A possessed. That's what Mr. Ilan said.

"May?" Something seemed to click.

"Nn?" May tilted her head at Isha, helping him up the stairs.

"What did he mean… when he said as of right now?" May fell silent to his question. "What did he mean." Isha repeated, a little louder.

"Later. However, the way you spat out that food was funny. Especially when you fell off the chair." She replied jokingly, changing the subject. "I even took all my time in cooking that." She gave him a smug look.

"Listen here, next time don't poison someone's food, or maybe it's always that bad and yesterday was a fluke?" He shot back at her.

"Boo. You just can't tell my great cooking, even Satan himself would eat my cooking, no matter the level of salt or silver water." May stuck her tongue out and gave a haughty reply.

Isha looked around the upstairs as May guided him. It should be about the same space as the café downstairs, so including the kitchen, about 2,000 square feet. The stairs lead straight into the living room, the kitchen visible. May pulled him to the right, down a hallway.

There were about six rooms down here. Isha was lead to the second on the right. Opening the door revealed a room with a premade bed and a dresser.

"The bathroom as at the end of the hall, to the right." May informed him as she set him on the bed and closed the blinds, going towards the door.

"Not even gonna tuck me in?" Isha asked sarcastically.

"Tuck yourself in, pervert. Hurry and leave, cause I'm not taking a chance at bathing with you around." She shot back in her normal monotone, turning the lights off and shutting the door.

After she left, Isha got himself under the cover and stared at the ceiling, thinking about how the day went so far.

"Not exactly human huh…" He sighed out, pulling the covers further. "He said I was 'as of now possessed.' Does that mean I was fine before I came to the shop? No… My eyes and hair had changed… but then what did he mean?"

Isha closed his eyes, holding the blanket to his face. This bed was leagues more comfortable than the one at his apartment. More spacious too.

"Do you really want to know?" A voice yanked him from the thoughts about his bed.

Looking up, Isha spotted the girl, no, the demon from last night. She was right at the foot of his bed, sitting close to his feet. He just stared at her for a bit.

"Man it's getting late huh, time for bed." Isha said to himself, pulling the blanket over his head.

"Hey!" The demon jumped onto him, pulling at the blanket as Isha kept trying to pull it to his head. "Is this how you treat a cute girl?!" She exclaimed as she tugged.

"A cute girl? Heh, all I see is a demon who tried to eat me inside a girl's body!" He pulled the blanket over successfully.

"How was I suppose to know you were strong enough, not only to live, but to consume me!" She yelled back, throwing a pillow at him.

Isha furrowed his brow, lowering the blanket.

"Consume you?" He asked. "Didn't you possess me?" She scoffed at his words.

"I'm an arch demon! I mean sure you'd be the first human I'd eat… but I definitely did not want to possess you!" She sat atop him now, arms crossed. "But no! I go to eat you and your stupid trash can lid comes and hits me! Somehow knocking me out! Next thing I know… Hey are you crying?"

"So my shield came back for me." Isha cried tears of joy as he clenched his fists proudly. "I am so sorry for doubting you in my final moments of consciousness."

When he was finished thanking the shield, the demon huffed.

"Aren't you scared of me?" She asked, her arms still crossed.

"Why would I be? I'm sure the old man would save me. Besides, you said I consumed you." He replied, his brow furrowing. "The only thing I'm really scared of… is who am I? Especially if I consumed you, a supposed arch demon. How are you an arch demon anyway? You even said I'd be your first kill."

The demon froze at his question, looking off into the distance.

"I am what I am." She stated. "And now your 'possessed.' For now, anyway." She looked up at the ceiling, her eyes becoming clouded, still in the same ragged clothes from yesterday.

"For now? Why for now? And don't you have a change of clothes?" Isha furrowed his brow in confusion. The demon looked back at him and let out a sigh.

"There's a chance you'll become a demon. Despite being still alive. If that does happen… well it's speculation… However there will be many groups after you now, possessed, demons, possibly Satan. Definitely the Catholics." Isha shivered. Not the Catholics. "Yes the Catholics, you seem to have some history with them."

Isha's eyes widened a bit, sitting up a bit.

"Did you just-"

"Read your mind? No. I can look at your memories and past thoughts. At least until you learn how to restrict me, if you do~" She placed her chin in her hands. "As for my clothing, despite being a demon I'm still made of matter. While I can dissipate my own matter in ways to make myself "disappear" or go through walls, I can do the same with some objects. Clothing is one of them. So I have what I was able to get. And that's where I'm going to leave that."

She flopped onto him, causing him to fall back onto the bed with a wince.

"Now c'mon, the salt and silver damaged your internals a bit. That was a despicable method they used, at least it wasn't holy water." She let out another sigh. "Anyways, lets sleep."

Isha furrowed his brow again.

"Can't you sleep somewhere else?" He narrowed his eyes at her.

"No. My soul currently rests in your body, I can't go a certain distance from you. I can control my molecules to 'disappear' like I explained earlier, but then I can't sleep. Heck I'm surprised you didn't see me in your bed this morning." She phased underneath the covers, the blankets making a space for her.

Did a demon just say heck? Wait a second.

"Did you just say you were in my bed this morning?" She nodded at his question.

"It's been lonely being alone you know? It was kinda nice…" She let out a sleepy yawn and was out before Isha knew it. He huffed and closed her eyes.

"I can't do anything about it currently… let's just take a heal nap and solve it later." He told himself, drifting off into sleep.
