"Hello. Do you realize that you just hit me with your car? Do you even know how to drive? Yeesh, you even reek of alcohol. Why are you driving so recklessly?" The man spoke first since he was so irritated that his joy ride got cut short.
"I'm sorry! I really didn't see you! I didn't think anyone was behind me and I didn't know how else to get out of the alley. I made a wrong turn. I really do apologize!" Xia Biming blurted out in one breath. She inhaled a huge breath and realized why she was out in the first place. this brought back her tears and sorrowful wails. "I'm sorry, I don't know why I did that! My heart just hurts so much and and..."
Xia Biming kept talking but since she was crying and also drunk, the man didn't hear anything but gibberish and her cries. He quickly concluded that the small woman in front of him just got dumped. She then grabbed ahold of him and hugged him with all her might and wailed even louder.
His body stiffened at her touch. Not knowing what to do to comfort this crying girl, he stood still for a few minutes before he patted her back. He started shushing her as if trying to console a child and when her cries died down he suggested in a much more gentle tone, "Hey let me move your car and then we can get something warm to drink in that cafe over there to warm you up. Okay?"
She nodded while she hiccuped, then allowed the man to drive her car to a parking spot nearby. He looked well dressed and she could tell how expensive his bike was. Also from the way he comforted her, she felt warmth from him and thought she could trust him.
They settled themselves into a corner table in the cafe after receiving their warm cups of tea. He was checking on something on his phone and now that Xia Biming was sobering up, she got a clear look of his handsome features. His lips were pale red and full with a tall nose while his eyes displayed an endless pool of black that keeps drawing you in. With just one look, Biming could tell that they were from the same social circle. He looked up and put his phone down and locked eyes with her.
"Are you okay now?" he questioned her.
"... Uh yeah. Thank you for helping me. And also sorry for hitting you. My mind was a mess earlier." Biming thanked him sheepishly and then remembered, "Oh, I think I forgot my wallet so thank you for the tea."
"Since you didn't hurt me or damage anything, it's no problem. Just be more careful from now on, kiddo. And... for the tea, just consider it a favor. Maybe I'll find you one day ask for a favor back."
"Oh! In that case, let me give you this!" Biming got up quickly and asked for a pen from the cashier and jotted down her name for him to look for her later and also noted down 'IOU' on it before passing it to him.
"Xia Biming?" He asked her. She nodded confirming her name. "It suits you, you're very beautiful and clear as jade. Just like your name. Thanks, I'll definitely remember your name."
"And may I ask your name? Also, you don't look that much older than me, why call me kiddo?" Biming felt somewhat offended when he called her a kid because she was already short standing at a height of 163 cm.
He chuckled at how offended she was by just a simple word. "You can call me Chang. Hehe, what makes you think we're close in age? How old are you anyway?" He snickered.
"Mmm, I don't know. I'm older than I look. I'll be turning 24 next month." Biming informed him.
"Ah see, I'm older than you. That's why I called you kiddo. I turned 27 last month. Since I'm your big brother, do you mind me asking why you were crying like a big baby earlier?" Chang wanted to tease her a bit to try to lift the mood even though he has no experience in this field.
As soon as he asked, everything flooded back into her mind and her eyes welled up with tears again. Her lips started quivering before she softly said, "I cried because I needed to get the heartache out before I can toughen up. There was a man I loved. I thought he loved me too but when I got back in the country today, I found out that he's already engaged with a child on the way." When she finished, a single tear managed to seep out but she quickly wiped it away before looking down.
'Crap. I shouldn't have asked because now I don't know how to answer..' Chang thought to himself. He decided to be honest with her, "I don't know what to say to a girl in this situation, but maybe it just wasn't meant to be. If he really loved you, he wouldn't do something like this behind your back. Consider yourself lucky to not be with a scumbag like him." He showed off his pearly white smile as he said the last sentence trying to cheer her up.
But... she just let out a loud wail that scared him and everyone else in the cafe. "Ahh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry again! Please stop crying! I'll buy you a cupcake if you stop crying!"
Xia Biming slowly stopped crying and nodded her head insisting on a cupcake. Chang got up to get her a strawberry cupcake. Once she got her hands on the cupcake, her tears dried up instantly and she finished the cupcake in just three bites. "Hey, slow down okay? It's late and you shouldn't eat too much sweets at night. Now finish your tea and head home. A cute little girl like you shouldn't be out so late at night."
She finished her tea and thanked him again. He walked her to her car and watched her drive off before he got on his bike and also made his way home.
