Tender light sneaked through the curtain split and lay down a strand of warmth on her face. The room was quiet. Until the door played a soft tune and swung open. Sneakers stepped over the entrance, and a drop of sweat dripped down onto the floor. One Shot slid out of the shoes and dropped them into the shoe closet by the entrance. Then he stepped into the short hallway, but before he reached the main area, he made a sharp turn and headed into the bathroom.

The sound of the shower woke her up with a suddenness that did not sit well with her stomach. Abruptly, her eyelids flew open. She sat up immediately and pain struck like lighting into her head. She bit down on her lip as she held her head for a moment until the pain subsided. Then she glanced around.

Judging from the design of the place, she was in a luxurious hotel room. While the furniture had a simple elemental design, the quality of the material was outstanding. Her hand slid across the satin summer bed sheets. A nice touch. To her left, she noticed her two phones had been plugged in and were now quietly charging. Further away from the king-sized bed, a low table with comfortable big cushioned chairs was positioned before the floor to ceiling windows, a flat-screen TV was hanging from the ceiling, and just opposed her a couch leaned against the wall on which abstract act has found its way onto a painting.

To her other side, she saw her shoes had been conveniently placed on the hallway leading out of the room, and on the nightstand to her right, her purse sat patiently next to a violin case. This was her chance to get away without any unnecessary questions or complications. She quickly reached out and grabbed her purse without a second thought, but then she paused and turned her head back to the violin case.

She felt her body move on its own, reaching cautiously towards the black case. It was a hard leather cover, cool to the touch, with silver locks aligned on one side. With her purse behind her, she slowly moved the case onto the bed, right on her lap. There it sat, quietly and unmoving. Like it should. But her hand wouldn't leave the case. Her fingers tapped on the case as she was contemplating for a while.

Then, on impulse, she snapped the locks open and raised the cover to reveal the contents inside. The colors left her face instantly as she realized something was missing: the sounds of the shower.

"Still as curious as last night, I see?"
