Getting away from the watchful eyes of the wedding planner had turned out to be more complicated than Jack expected. As soon as he came anywhere remotely close to the elevators, she would pop out of nowhere, hovering over his shoulder like a helicopter parent with the face and the demeanor of an angry hawk. In any case, he finally found his chance to slip through the back doors towards the staircase once she was caught up with a handful of guests.

Some peace and quiet at last. And his way up was secured, but his happiness was short-lived. He stopped in his tracks, one hand on the rail. A dark scene grew in his mind as he recalled following the elevator carrying One Shot and his girlfriend up, up, up. To the top floor. Craning his head upwards confirmed his fears: this was going to take a while. There was no end in sight.

Top floor>

Finally. Pushing the door to the top floor open was the last act of rebellion, anger boiling inside him. All this effort for one darn girlfriend of his competitor. This had better be worth it. He stepped out, taking a deep breath in to fill his exhausted lungs, and shaking out his legs. Now, where was she? He glanced around and felt his luck return as he laid eyes on his target across the hallway, leaning with one hand against the wall, weak and just waiting for him to take her. What are the chances! He could even get away through the staircase without anyone knowing, having just confirmed that no CCTVs had been installed in the emergency staircase.

He approached his target like a playful predator, enjoying the hunt without wanting it to end too early. But he was too late. No more than a few steps were between them when a door slammed against the wall down the hall - Jack flinched -, and a guy, dressed in a tuxedo, but wearing the expression of a general at war, stepped out and strode directly over to his target.

"We need to talk," he spat out before grabbing One Shot's girlfriend around her wrist and dragger her off right in front of his nose.

He passed by him, shoving an empty glass of champagne into Jack's automatic receptive hands, and gone...

Jack's mind went blank. But one thought remained. He needed to change his disguise. However, before any actions could follow up, another door opened up and a tall, slender but older woman stepped out in a majesty dress and locked eyes with him.

"Are you drinking on the job?!" She snapped impatiently with her fingers, "Come here, and make yourself useful."

This was not his day.

Regardless, his chance would come. Sooner or later.
