Eavesdropping

-Flashback-

Onodera and Raku were concerned looking at Ryota as he walked past them.

"What do you think happened over lunch break?" Onodera asked,

"Let's go meet Shizuka-sensei. She might know about it." Raku suggested as they rushed over towards the teacher's office. Luckily Shizuka had yet to leave, as she was checking her student's homework.

"Shizuka-sensei!"

"Why are you two being so loud?" Shizuka turned around as she looked over at Raku and Onodera.

"Sensei, do you know where Ryota went during lunch break?" Raku questioned as Shizuka nodded.

"A friend of his had asked me if I could get Ryota to meet him. I think it was Hayato Hayama from class 2-F." Shizuka answered, "Is there something wrong?"

"Nothing really." Raku answered as he rushed out with Onodera, "Thank you sensei."

"Sigh! Kids these days."

"If we rush, I think we can still meet with him."

"Do you think he is the reason, Ryota was so down," Onodera asked.

Raku was just about to answer when he suddenly heard the name Hayato coming in from an empty classroom. He quickly stopped in his track pulling Onodera aside.

Inside the classroom where two people, a girl with dark black hair and a blonde guy.

"I told you to stay out of my business." The girl said quite coldly, "I think you should handle your situation first before you try to meddle in mine."

"I am okay with everything." The blonde guy said, "But you aren't and neither is he."

"Last I heard he was out with some girl, so since when did he start caring." The girl said, "If he did, he would have at least check to see--"

"Stop creating misunderstandings between yourselves." The guy cut off the girl, "After what happened that day, you know how broken he was. And I know better than anyone about what he felt about those girls he was with."

"Enough, I don't want to hear about him." The girl said, "I know him and I know myself. We're both too prideful to apologize and move on. So it's better this way, after all, it's time Ryota moved on. Sigh! And stop trying to get between our personal matter again."

Onodera and Raku looked at each other and nodded hearing Ryota's name knowing they've found the guy. As they listened more carefully trying to understand the gist of that situation.

"I won't anymore." The guy said, "This was my last responsibility after what happened, and now its completely up to you two."

"I am leaving." The girl said as she headed out, "The next time you meet him, make sure he understands that I have no intention of ever going back to how we were."

Raku and Onodera tried to quickly hide seeing the girl come out but they were caught.

"What are you two doing?"

"We-we were looking for Hayato Hayama-kun." Raku barely muttered under her cold gaze.

"He's inside the class." The girl said as she walked past them, "The sooner you learn that eavesdropping is bad, the better it is going to be for you two."

"Wh-Why is she so sc-scary." Onodera said gulping as this was probably her first time interacting with someone so cold. Raku who was sweating also agreed.

"Did you say you needed something from me?" the blonde guy came out of the class as well.

After having a bit of a conversation with Hayato both Onodera and Raku came out looking depressed themselves.

"I can't believe Ryota never told me about this." Raku said, "But I guess it was hard on him."

"Yeah, but I've made up my mind." Onodera suddenly declared, "I am going to help Ryota."

"How?"

"You'll see." Onodera said looking determined.

-Flash back end-

"Um, why are you asking me if I like Kise-kun?"

Onodera looked nervously at Akane as she wondered why it was so difficult than from what she had imagined. Onodera took a deep breath and stared directly into her eyes.

"You see, Ryota from what I know is quite a bit of a jerk. His friends all have the same story about him being a bit mean and selfish. Though I don't really remember our childhood much, from what my mom told me, he used to be a jerk towards me as well." Onodera said as Akane wondered how this was supposed to make her like Kise, "But even with all that bad personality, I know from my heart that he is very kind, gentle and caring. He jokes around a lot and is quite sarcastic at times but I can tell that he really appreciates his friends. He might be a bit cold to outsiders but once you get to know him, you'll warm up to him pretty soon."

Onodera getting quite excited with her speech grabbed Akane's hand, "Unlike others I am not really too sure about how you feel about him, but I can still tell that you get a bit jealous every time you see me with him. And it's just not you, Ryota-kun too stares at you almost all the time when he is in the class, even when he is with us there hasn't been a day where he doesn't mention you."

"Kise-kun looks at me?" Akane muttered,

"Yes. You see I am quite bad at love but I still want to see Ryota-kun happy." Onodera said, "And if you really like him, please be the one to go after him, because he likely wouldn't accept his own feelings."

Suddenly the feeling hit Onodera that she might have said a bit more than what she was planning to as she turned back to look at Raku who wasn't too far away, hiding his face trying his hardest not to look towards them. But just the way he was shaking was enough to tell Onodera, that she might have really said a lot.

"I am sorry, I know it's just been a little more than a week so I might have said too much." Onodera quickly apologized. Just as she was thinking of a way, to leave and disappear forever, Akane grabbed her hands tightly.

"Thank you, Onodera-san." Akane said in a serious tone, "I wouldn't have known if it weren't for you but rest assure, I promise you that I'll be the one to go after him. Also seeing your concerns about him, I can tell that you really care about him. So why don't we be friends as well?"

"So does that mean you like him?" Onodera asked awkwardly as Akane shyly nodded.

Onodera awkwardly nodded back as after some small talk she turned around like a robot walking back towards Raku with an awkward thumbs-up sign, "She said she likes him."

"Who likes me?" Ryota's sudden voice made the both of them jump as they looked at each other guiltily and under Ryota's questioning gaze they knew they couldn't hide it.

"I see, so Hayato revealed to you about my past and both of you got pissed and wanted to help me find someone better. So you went to Hiyama-san to ask her how she feels about me but you got too excited and ended up making it sound too dramatic and more like a proposal than you intended to."

"Yes." Both Onodera and Raku nodded, "We are really sorry."

"Sigh! It's fine." Ryota said as he passed his phone over to them. It was a message from Hayato, sent just ten minutes before school started which read,

'Your two friends came asking about you and since they overheard our conversation, I told them everything. Hope you don't mind.

PS, They really seemed excited so just a heads up.'

"I knew that both of you might try something, so I came earlier than usual but you guys managed to beat me to it." Ryota said, "But the more concerning part about all this is how that bastard, Hayato got my number."

"So you aren't angry with us."

"Not really." Ryota said lazily, "After all, you just fell under one of Hayato's traps. That guy just keeps on reminding me of why I dislike him so much."

"Trap?"

"Of course, do you think he told you about my past because he was concerned about me or because he was moved by our friendship?" Ryota snorted, "That guy just wanted to butt in a place where he doesn't belong and he's succeeded."

"Umm, so what about Hiyama-san?" Onodera asked.

"What about her?" Ryota shrugged, "Does she plan on joining my harem or something?"

"You have a harem?"

"Well I can always build one." Ryota laughed, "Besides you guys even know the reason for it now."

Onodera and Raku looked at him with pity as he karate chopped both of their heads.

"Thank you," Ryota said in an appreciative tone, though he was mad at Hayato manipulating his friends, he was still touched by all of their motives of trying to help him, which made his heart warm. 'So this is the state, I've been looking for huh.'
