Forgotten Memories

Lillian tossed and turned in her bed as the voices all around her grew louder and louder, the darkness of the room threatening to swallow her whole. 

Why are you alive? You shouldn't have been alive.

No. Go away. Please. Leave me alone.

Come on. We'll have fun.

She took slow, ragged breaths as her tear-soaked pillow brushed against her skin. Memories came back to her, more vividly than they ever were before.

You're a disgrace! Someone like you shouldn't be alive!

They came in flashes, like short video clips playing in her mind as the voices grew louder. The shadows seem to claw at her, not a single light entered the bedroom as she gasped and cried in fear.

No one's going to hurt you. I promise. So just come here you little sl-

She clasped her hands over her ears, trying to quieten every one of them down so that she could think but they weren't letting her.
