"Tell me, Lillian." Vaille asked, "Why would a kind King subject his people to that?"

"He wouldn't," Lillian answered softly, looking at Vaille. "That's the kind of King he is. A pain in the as- butt but he does care about his people."

"You believe in him tremendously." Vaille said, annoyance filling her voice, "Will he live up to it?"

"He will," Jasmine said from behind the mirror. "Don't worry about that. Oh, I have to get going now. Please pardon me, Lillian."

Jasmine disappeared from the mirror as Madam Lesh gave a little wave to them.

Ray and Lillian made a little eye contact and he kept indicating to her side, to Vaille staring out at the wide field.

"Do you hate the King, Princess?" Lillian asked, handing the mirror to Ray.
