As KJ walked home he was met with a lot of glares. The glares were warranted though, his robes were a mess and he did not look like he normally did at all. He was red and he looked severely beaten. He was stumbling a bit and during a stride, his foot caught hold of a large rock that was embedded into the floor. The rock was elevated quite a bit and KJ didn't have the energy to react. He was about to fall face first before he was randomly caught in the middle of the fall. He was shocked and couldn't turn his neck enough to see who it was.
A familiar voice rang out. "Need any help there." The man helped KJ balance himself and he waved to KJ and gave him a friendly smile.
KJ: Oh… no wonder you sound familiar. You were that soldier in Taihe's shop… sorry if I went a bit too far.
The soldier still had one of his arms bandaged up. This was because they couldn't completely fix his arm. His arm was still intact, but it was paralyzed. He only had feeling in one of his hands now.
The soldier rubbed the back of his head as he looked down. "Oh about this… I thought about what you said, and I've thought about my own life. I've been happy in the past, but it never lasts. I've constantly been falling and having ups and downs and it isn't any way to be living. I've even chosen to leave my job as an officer. Oh, by the way, my name is Zegrid."
KJ: The name is KJ. Do you mind helping me get to my house, I'd love to have a talk about what happened and maybe even a drink if you're up for it
Zegrid: Yeah, no problem, I am really sorry for how I was acting back then, I was a complete jackass, I already went ahead and apologized to Taihe. I was on the way home from doing that and I ran into you.
Zegrid gave KJ his shoulder and supported him as they walked to his house
KJ: So why did you have the change of heart?
Zegrid: I took in the things you said, and I finally understood what you meant when you said you cannot have true happiness externally, if you want to be truly happy it must come from within
KJ: Ha ha, at least that's what I've found
Zegrid: I wanted a goal or a purpose behind my life and you helped me get to it. I had this game called Pocemon that I played when I was younger, and it involved constantly growing. I learned that what makes me happy is improving so I want to make sure that every day I am a better me. Now I've been making my own choices and living more so for myself, I don't put up any fake acts in order to fit in. I'm at the point where my happiness is at a quantity where I cannot contain it within me. I want to spread this kindness to others and that is how I truly feel. I cannot thank you enough KJ, I am entirely indebted, if you need me, I will be there.
Zegrid: It hasn't been too long, but it feels as though my mind has been cleared. I only allow positive things in my life and I haven't felt below content at any moment.
KJ: That's good to hear. Oh, my house is over there to the right
Zegrid backed away and bowed deeply. "I'll have to drink with you another day, they need me back at the house. I was only supposed to be out for Taihe. I hope to see you again." Zegrid turned and left after that.
KJ stumbled into his house and shut the door behind him as he fell onto his bed.
Kabal: KJ what the hell happened to you; did you get jumped by that soldier from Taihe's shop?
KJ: No...…. just tired.
KJ was now mumbling into his nice soft and cold pillow. "Mhmhmhmmmm, it's funny that you mention him. He actually saw me on my way back here. His name is Zegrid and he actually helped me get back here and caught me before I fell. He's much nicer than the last time we met him"
Kabal: Anything is possible, people can change overnight, it isn't always the length but what they experience within that period of time
KJ: Mhmmmm, when did you become a poet, isn't that supposed to be my shit
Kabal slapped his knee, "Don't worry it can be both of our shits. Your shit, my shit, even Zegrid's shit, mix it all together and it's still shit."
KJ: Yup going by that logic everything should be fine
Kabal: Alright stop talking, you obviously need some rest you looked exhausted when you came in. Just relax, if you need something let me know, for the next few days just rest.
KJ: King Alfin's training really did a number on me, and this was just prepping for what's next
Kabal: Damn, I'm kind of glad he didn't tell me to come along
With KJ's head placed deeply into his pillow, he fell into a dark, dark sleep. He thought of what was to come next.
Hmmmm, the Spirit Connection Realm, there is always somewhere you must begin.
Zegrid: Soldier that KJ folded and enlightened
