**two years later**
Me and Mason have got along pretty well over the past few years, he is very annoying at school and always getting trouble, but he is about to leave to go to his mother's house for the summer and since I need to get a check up before i go to summer camp we are taking him to his mom Jenny's house. When we got there everyone got out including Mason was he really coming inside with us why does he have to. When we got inside we got called into the doctor's office. Mason told my mom Shieran he would stay in the waiting room, she asked if he was sure, then he turned to me who had just walked out of the bathroom after putting my robe on gave me a quick scan and said yes. In the doctor office everything was going perfect I could see fine, hear fine, I was a little under weight, but the nurse said that was normal. She checked a few other things and everything was fine. It became bad when she needed to measure my height I went and stood up next to the measuring strip, she told me stand up straight I was confused I thought I was standing straight. When I was standing up "straight" the nurse said, "Dear I think we should get some x-rays" I was very confused then she explained to me that I was not stand up straight at all and there could be something wrong with my spine. So I quickly agreed and we went to the x-ray after we took the x-ray she showed me that that me spine was severely messed up and that I needed bars to be put inside my back next to my spine so it would straighten up and that if I didn't it could lead to paralization. I was stunned, but me and my mom agreed I should get the surgery. The nurse set up a appointment with the doctor to explain everything to me and my mother the nurse said until then I should were a back brace I put the back brace on along with all my normal clothes and we left. We got in the car, Mason was sitting in the back with me we didn't talk until my mom got out at the store to get some snacks because Jenny lived 2 hours away. As soon as my mom got out I broke down into tears. Mason had never seen me cry, so he was more stunned than concerned. When he finally asked is every thing okay I shook my head no. So he proceeded to ask what was wrong. I handed him the x-rays and he asked what they were, I told him they were x-rays of my spine. He looked at me shocked then asked if I was going to be okay I explained to him that I need medal bars in my back or else I could be paralyzed. He looked shocked once again. I showed him that I had to where a back brace and no longer would be able to go to summer camp. I guess there was a first for everything today because next thing I knew Mason had pulled me in for a hug. I didn't refuse instead i hugged him back. He only let go when i stopped cry. Then gave me a reassuring smile that clearly ment he's here for me. We were staring at each other for awhile and my mom getting in the car is what broke that stare. We both turned to her and she through a bag of snacks at us. When we got to Jenny's house we said our goodbyes and left.
**one week later**
We were at the doctors appointment the nurse had set up for us . The doctor said I would need to keep the bars in my back for two years and that I shouldn't leave the state after surgery incase something happens. Me and my mother agreed and the doctor said I would have to say in the hospital for to weeks after surgery the doctor said we could do the surgery in as little as a week my mother told the doctor to set the date and call her. When my mom wasn't looking I pulled out my phone remembering I have Mason's number, so I could tell him what was going on. I told him and he told me everything was going to be okay I decided to listen to him. Everything was going to be okay.
