4: The Cromwell
It was a mansion.
My sleepy eyes widen at the house. A modern contemporary house with two stories. It was a boxy type of house full of glass and windows. There were walls made of glass on the left side of the second floor.
A couple stood at the front door. The man was very handsome with the same shade of blonde hair as Rowan and Garrett and an attractive light brown eyes. While the woman on his side was beautiful, regal looking with blond pink hair and blue eyes. They must be the parents, Caleb and Eleanor Cromwell.
Garrett immediately stepped out of the black Bentley Bentyaga and ran to the couple's meeting halfway, he then jumped towards the man giving a hug.
Max, the young guard who was with us in our travel stood outside of the car with a hand extending to me. "Miss?"
I took the hand hesitantly and stepped out, quickly moving away since Rowan was next to get out.
Noticing that I was anxious Rowan took my hand and gave me an encouraging smile. "I happened to pass by at the library. I thought to myself, why is my sister suddenly interested in the kingdom? At first, I thought it's because you're a candidate of the crown prince but then you acted differently. So, I made Edith tell me about your secret." I looked at him, surprised.
Had he figured it out that I wasn't from here?!
No, that's impossible. Stay calm, Eirlys, or they'll know that you want to run away.
"Don't worry, I won't tell. Come now, our parents are waiting."
"Oh, Eirlys," Eleanor said with sadness on her voice. She gave me a tight hug. She smells like roses and chocolate. "You must be scared. We got a call that you fell off the waterfall and got an allergy. I'm sorry darling, mother's not with you." She pulled away and looked at me checking every part of my body.
According to Edith, Caleb and Eleanor had an emergency that they left us on the island.
I glanced up at the Caleb who looked at me worriedly and he knelt down placing his hand on my arm. "Are you alright, angel?"
Looking at the couple, I remembered my parents. They had the same look when they were still alive. Full of love and passion in their eyes.
I shook my head with a smile on my face. "It's alright, mother. I didn't get scared. Rowan and Garrett were with me," I said and smiled widely flashing my teeth. "We played board games on my bed. I had fun even though I was sick."
The couple looked surprised then softened their look and hug us.
"I'm so proud of my boys," Caleb said.
My room was mostly color pink. The wall was painted with glittery pink. Around 15 stuff toys were on the bed and more toys on the shelves. Not just ordinary toys, but those dolls that seems to watch you all the times. It was too much for me, so I closed the door in a bang.
Rowan who led me to my room looked at me questioningly. "I'm sleeping in the living room."
"Wah—why?"
"The room is pink," I half lied.
"You like pink."
"Not anymore."
"You're really are the opposite of Eirlys that I know. It's kind of refreshing." He then messed my hair. "Let's sleep in my room."
When we were on our way to Rowan's room, Garrett saw us and decided to invite himself. Thankfully Rowan's bed was large and we're children with small body.
I stared at the dark ceiling. The moon outside the windows was the only source of light.
Garrett turned with his hand flying to my face. He then grumbled some unintelligent words.
"That's why you're so keen to have me in the middle," I mumbled as I take Garrett's hand off my face.
Rowan and Garrett were fighting who will be in the middle. Garrett wanted to be in the middle because he's the second child while Rowan wanted me because I was a girl. And since Rowan was older and we were in his room he won. Garrett was already asleep the moment his head was on the pillow.
Rowan laughed quietly. "Sorry, sister. I'll treat you something else when you survived the night."
I closed my eyes. "Why did I jumped off the waterfall?"
There was a long silence that I thought Rowan had fallen asleep.
"You ran away. You wanted to come to the Royal Capital after receiving the news that you're one of the candidates on becoming the crown prince's fiancé. But father and mother didn't let you come to see the prince right away. After our parents left, you cried and ran like you usually do. We followed you but you suddenly disappeared from our sight and found you later on the top of the falls. You slipped and fell."
"Thank you for saving me, brother."
"That's what siblings do. Saving each other," Garrett spoke who was now awake and sat. "I like this version of you, sister. You're not annoying anymore. I'm glad that you lost your memories."
"You already knew?" Rowan asked.
"Yeah, I heard Eirlys told Edith that she lost your memories."
"You're eavesdropping in front of my room?"
"Hey! It's not my fault you left the door opened."
I yawned. "Please keep it a secret between us. I don't want mother and father make a huge fuzz about this."
The two promised. "Let's play!" Garrett said energetically. "I'll beat you this time, Eirlys."
I turned my back to him. "Goodnight."
"Why so sudden?! Brother?"
"Go play with yourself, Garrett. Goodnight."
"Sister!" Garrett said shaking me. When I didn't respond he lied down on top of us.
"Ugh! Move Garrett!" Rowan said.
"Play with me first!"
Garrett was very much like Vinny. Vinny would annoy me until he gets my attention. Perhaps I spoiled him too much. I was afraid that I would spoil Garrett and as well as Rowan sooner or later. I have a soft spot when it comes to children.
"Fine. Just one game and we'll sleep."
That one game was a huge lie.
The three of us woke up where the sun on its peak. Uno cards scattered on the bed and on the floor.
