They Have Arrived

MAY 7

Dominic raised his sword up and swung at his enemy with sore arms, the scream that followed sending a smile on his face from the successful attack. He continued to run forward brutally attacking those who dared to get in his way. It was one day away from being a month since they were in battle. His arms were sore and vision clouded by the red from victims that were killed and allies whose life was taken, and his sword that was once light was now heavy from the stress on his fingers and the deaths it had taken.

He looked ahead and could spot Litian in battle with a much larger man. He raised his sword and was about to bring it down heavily on Litian, when he jumped in and deflected the blow with his sword. He felt the pain from the hit on his hand and the warmth of blood rolling down his hand. The man fell to the ground and was about to strike again when Dominic raised his sword and stabbed the man in his thigh.

"AHHHHH!!!!" The man screamed, his voice blending into the yells of pain and war in the battlefield.

Dominic twisted the sword in the man's thigh, making the man yelp out in agony and then yanked it out and slashed him across the chest with his sword, ending his pain. Blood spewed out of the man and off Dominic's blade while he huffed, out of breath, and wiped off the blood that had flown onto his face.

"Are you ok?" Dominic asked, turning to Litian through puffs for air.

Litian stared, a bit taken aback at the situation and her heart still thumped loudly from the scare. She looked down at the cut on Dominic's cut on his hand and pushed her fears away, "YES SIR!!" She yelled, saluting him.

"Good," Dominic grinned. He turned to the man on the ground and looked at the fields in front of him where battles between multiple were going on at the moment. He had hoped he was imagining it at first, but the number of people on the floor now seemed to be more than the people standing. "Have they arrived yet?" He asked, turning to Litian.

"I-" Litian began, when a distant yell interrupted her.

"YOUR MAJESTY!!!" a voice yelled, grabbing Dominic and Litian's attention.

The soldier almost tripped on a body on the ground and avoided a rouge swing of someone's sword before reaching Dominic. "YOUR MAJESTY!!"

The soldier fell face-first into the ground in front of Dominic and Litian's feet and looked at the corpse beside them before getting up and bowing his head in front of Dominic. "YOUR MAJESTY!!!"

"Calm down!" Dominic coaxed, patting the soldier on the shoulder, "take it slowly."

The soldier took a few deep breaths and then continued, yelling at an even higher voice, "THEY HAVE ARRIVED, MY LORD!! THE TROOPS FROM OUR KINGDOM HAVE ARRIVED!!!"

Dominic's eyes lit up at the news and he shook the soldier by the shoulder, "WHERE?!"

The soldier pointed in the direction of the location of the new troop, "since we have advanced a lot further, they are just entering this zone and are being led by General Grayson's niece, council member, Feline H. Hane."

Dominic's eyes darted to where the soldier pointed and spotted a large group approaching, equipped with shields and swords. With their leader, Feline H. Hane on a horse behind the first line, many were on horses and the other in armor, shields, spears, and swords. Dominic was about to grin when one of the soldier words hit him again, Feline H. Hanes? He remembered her. A scholar in Grayson's family line who was trained in the strategy of war and though she was trained in martial arts too, she was not fit to be on the field, nevertheless leading a mini-army but rather the strategist behind them.

Dominic turned and locked eyes with Litian, who stuttered noticing her prince's sudden glare, "y-your majesty," she bowed.

"Litian, follow me," Dominic commanded sprinting towards the large group.

"Yes my prince," Litian asked, surprised at Dominic's sudden movement but still sprinted after him.
