The Letter

"The king asks that the noble, Damian, and his family come to the royal palace next weekend. His majesty wants to congratulate the noble on his new daughter." said the messenger, reading the letter out loud to the family. " Be at the palace by 12 in the afternoon on Saturday. His Majesty also asks that Damian may stay for a few days." Rin's mother, Kirin, said to her husband," Dear, we should get ready soon."

" Mother, Father, may I ask why the king personally ask a common noble like us to go to the palace?" asks Rin. "It's because His Majesty and I were friends since we were little. He must have heard the news." answered Rin's father. "Huh, I always thought that you and His Majesty were just familiar. I thought that he asked us just now out of politeness." said Kai. "Ah, well you thought wrong." said Penny.

"Okay! Enough chit chat! We have to prepare for the visit. Penny and Kai pack your needs into a backpack each. Rin will get a bigger backpack for her stuff and Hero's toys." said the children's mother. " Wait, can we even bring Hero? " asked Penny. They all turned to look at the father. "What?" asked the children's father with his hands raised up. "You know the king the best. So can we bring Hero or not?" asked the children. "Well, I don't think so" he answered. Sad, the children looked at each other then at their father with puppy eyes.

"What now?" he asked. "Can't you ask the king if we can bring Hero?" asked Rin. "I'm not going anywhere without him." Penny and Kai agreed with Rin. Their father sighed and raised his hands in defeat saying," I'll ask him"

Over the next few days, the children were busy learning rules in the palace and packing their stuff that they had no time to play. They were also anxious for the letter from the king. When the letter arrived, Hero was allowed to be brought but he cannot go inside the palace and can only stay in the gardens.

The children were happy enough that Hero can go with them. When the day came, Rin was nervous as she was told that another reason that they got to go was to be play mates with the three princes. The family went into the carriage with their stuff and left their home.
