I looked back to find the "people" now running into the crowd, as me and my friends rounded the corner. Slowing our sprinting into a slow jog.
"I'm glad you got your breathing under control but we need to get out of here..like now!" JP yelled, hands gripping his head.
"Panicking won't help anyone, we need to stay calm and get to the emergency exit!" Bella called out from behind me as the screaming in the background got louder.
"Shit..we led them into the crowd of people!"
"Look!" I say cutting him off. "..we had no other choice, it's kill or be killed; if we wanna make it out of this mall alive. We have to do the unthinkable."
A crawl like sensation washed over my body, felt like centipedes were running across my skin. After I finished my short speech. JP had somehow manage to peek around the corner of the hallway, possibly whilst me and Ethan were arguing. I've got to learn to pay more attention, that becoming more apparent then ever..
"I'd love to stay and watch you all argue but we got to go..like now!" JP yelled as he sprinted down the hall.
I took a look behind me; one of the most common mistakes in any zombie movies.. and was hit by two or three people toppling me to the ground. Luckily though, Ethan was there to help me back on my feet. "Get a move on soldier!" he joked, ignoring the predicament we were obviously in.
"If we keep standing around like idiots, we're either going to lose sight of our friends or get mauled by the people we are running from". Ethan nodded his head in agreement as we started running with the crowd, ignoring the occasional bumping and pushing of people.
"Please help me, my baby is lost! Please help!" A woman pleaded from behind me, voice cracking and breaking as if she were trying to hold back tears.
I could see starting Ethan slow, presumably so he could go back and help the woman. "Ethan let's go!" I grabbed his black jacket and pulled him in front of me.
Rule #3 In surviving the Zombie apocalypse. Don't be a hero...I thought to myself.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
It's been about two years since the Zombie Apocalypse had begun. It had been noted that, the highly populated areas such as the cities had been hit hard, which also furthered the spreading of the virus.. Even so, Me , Ethan, Bella,JP and Ali made it out the mall in one piece that day. Others weren't so lucky. As soon as we got outside, military had set up several barricades and ushered us into "safety" camps, where we hopped from one to the next; in search of our parents.
Days turned into weeks of navigating through camps all the while avoiding the cities, or what was left of them..As for the weeks, they've turned into months of searching for our families. I along with Ethan were starting to lose hope...
"Sean..we've been looking for you! It's been said that the generators are out of fuel and we had lost power this morning. Forcing us to send out a party to find some more gas. A raspy voice calls as a tall man appears, stepping into my tent.
Just as he said that, another man walked into the room. This one had dirty blonde wavy hair that slightly covered his icy blue eyes. He appeared to be around twenty-nine maybe. I noticed his arms were covered in bandages, along with his hands.
"So i'm guessing that, you're tagging along?" I questioned looking at the boy.
no answer..
Even though i've been in this camp awhile, it's sad how I still don't know most of the survivors names.."Nah, he's gonna be looking after the wounded and eliminating the threats." The man replied.
"Oh ok.."
I never really liked the thought of killing someone in the camp. There were kids here after all, though this was a precautionary measure. It still felt wrong.
"Alright, so i'm guessing that I'll be the one leaving to go look for the fuel?"
"Yeah..though Ethan and Jamie will accompany you". The man replied.
This was a first for me, for the two years i've been living in these camps. I've never been sent out, going out there pretty much meant a death sentence. Now more then ever, since the recent appearance of mutated zombies and raid groups.
"Alright, though if anything bad happens out there Mike, we're turning back"
He crossed his arms over his Camo T- shirt. "fine by me, we can't afford to lose anymore people to them undeads out there."
