The Battle for Safety

WYATT'S EXPRESSION DARKENED immediately.

Alice could count on one hand the number of times she had ever seen Wyatt lose control of his perfect mask. He had always maintained his air of elegance, that graceful smile even when he was ticked beyond human imagination.

However, he didn't bother to maintain it. Not anymore, not in his own home.

And certainly not in front of the second prince of Gladiolum.

"Forgive me, Your Highness, but is that something Alice has told you?" Wyatt sharply retorted. Instantly, the air in the room dropped several degrees more in temperature. "Or is it something of your own deduction?"

"It's simply observable," Spade returned fairly. "After all, it is the undeniable truth that even though Alice is supposedly under the protection of the House of Ragan, you people have failed time and time again to completely ensure Alice's safety."
