"Who's this?" I asked after answering the phone.
"Hello it's Katrina" came the reply.
"Oh… hey what's up?" I said. I had completely forgotten to save her number since I was in a hurry to get to the crash site of Blue and not to even mention the incidents which popped up one after the other. I would be an alien if I was able to remember the good time I had at the club last Saturday.
"Uhm… are you free this Thursday?" asked Katrina.
"Yes, I think so" I said after a quick discussion with Blue.
"There's this music concert, are you interested in going I've got an extra ticket?" she asked.
"Yeah" I said smiling.
"Ok…" she said "I guess, I'll see you then" she said.
"Sure, I call you later" I said as she hung up.
I hurriedly saved her number as my day just got better from having more than just a simple adjustment to having a date with a beautiful girl there was no way my day was going to go bad or so I thought.
"Hey blue, your so-called adjustment was more than that" I said.
"Well, it is a minor adjustment" said Blue. "Even though your physical ability was increased after the adjustment, it is still currently not able to sustain the use of certain functions or skills" said Blue.
"Why do you keep talking about sustaining functions and skills, it's not like there's going to be an alien invasion" I said jokingly, but Blue kept quiet as if giving a silent approval.
"You're joking right" I said to Blue as my expression was completely different from the one I had before.
"Uhm… we'll talk about that later" said Blue before disappearing guiltily.
"Blue!!!" I screamed telepathically.
There was zero response from Blue who had gone into hiding in my head.
"Why am I so unlucky?" I asked myself as I walked back to the dorm dejectedly.
…
Walking into the room, I was stumped. I couldn't even hear what Grey and Enri were arguing about. I just walked towards my bed, laid down on it and stared at the ceiling in a daze.
"Hey cousin, are you alright?" asked Grey.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You don't look okay, bro" said Grey.
"What did the Course adviser say" asked Enri.
"Nothing" I simply replied, I couldn't tell them there was an alien invasion coming soon, they wouldn't believe me anyway.
"Dude, something definitely happened" said Grey "So, why don't you just tell us" he said.
"There's nothing bro, I just need to rest" I said as I tried to end the conversation
"I you say so then ok, but if there's anything on your mind you can tell me" said Grey.
Grey and Enri stopped arguing afraid they might be disturbing me.
…
Later that evening I woke up to the music being played by Enri.
"Feeling better?" asked Enri as he saw me jump of the bunk.
"Yeah" I said.
Surprisingly Khalil was present unlike other days where he just popped in and out of the dorms after getting something.
"Khalil, what's up?" I asked before nodding my head in the direction of Greys bed as if asking about Grey.
"Am ok, just the usual" answered Khalil simply before he continued doing whatever it was he was doing on his phone.
"Grey went out he said he had to meet up with Susanne" said Enri as he answered my question.
"When's he coming back?" I asked.
"He didn't really say anything" said Enri as he continued doing what he was doing before I woke up.
Looking out the window, I gazed at the setting sun as I couldn't help but think if this might be the last time I ever the sunset.
I walked out the room as I headed to the rooftop. I reached the rooftop I walked all the way to the ledge before sitting down.
"Blue" I called.
This time he appeared looking less lively and slightly guilty if that was possible since I had no way to tell if he had emotions.
"We need to talk" he said as he puffed out smoke.
"You think so?" I asked sarcastically.
"I know I am in the wrong for not telling you everything" said Blue.
"So, what do you have to say" I asked.
"First of all, allow me to apologize for not telling you everything" he said. "I would like your help to fight back against the aliens".
"Why would I want to help you?" I asked.
"Like I said I didn't tell you the whole truth, part of hat truth is that they are coming to kill me" said Blue as he paused "You being my host puts you in danger since we are now practically one single being" he said.
"What?!!" I screamed angrily. "My life is in danger because of you and you didn't think of telling me about that first" I said, if someone was to see my face they might be frightened because I just sat there staring at the sky angrily as if the sky had sinned against me.
"I am deeply sorry for lying to you" said Blue "Which is why I'm trying to make sure your body is capable of using the skills possessed by the system" he said as he hurriedly explained.
"Thanks for nothing" I said.
"You have to trust me Hyla" he said, "although I am an alien, I need you to believe that to my kind nothing is more important than surviving" said Blue.
"Fine" I said. There was no use crying over spilled milk.
"So, when are they coming?" I asked.
"I don't know, my kind are more advanced than humans although we may lack an actual physical body, we are more dangerous than mankind" he said, "What we lack in physical strength we compensated for it with our intellect".
"So how do we know if anyone of you is here?" I asked.
"Remember if you check your stat menu there's a stat called detection, that is what we use it for." Said Blue as he explained.
That was how I got started on the hero business, from a regular student to savior of the planet.
