Caitlin

//Just a sneek peak of my next chappy. My original will be put on hold for the time being as I have some concepts I want to try out. I have 3 chaps in the works. 2 will be out today

Caitlin thought she would be the first to wake up. As the one who had slept most of the previous day away, she hadn't expected to wake up and find that the new arrival was already up and about. It also suprised her to find him shirtless and covered from head to toe in sweat as the young man lowered and raised himself off the ground, counting under his breath. In the background, Pikachu was letting off bolts of electricity while Squirtle was repeatedly firing jets of water. It was a bizarre scene, one she knew was meant to br training but it was in a way she hadn't seen before.

Letting out a yawn, Caitlin stretched her back out before walking towards Vex. Her curiosity had gotten the better of her and she wanted to know just what he was up to.

"134, 135, 136," Vex grunted with each push from the ground, the strain in his voice evident as he forced himself upwards. Caitlin watched as eventually the youth was unable to push himself upwards and fell to the ground.

"Well good morning," She said, smiling as she knelt down. "Didn't expect you to be awake this early. How long did you sleep? About 4 hours? Whys you up?"

Vex rolled onto his back and lifted himself off the grassy floor, his knees cracking slightly. "Getting a start on some training. Pokemon aren't the only ones that need to toughen up. If I'm gonna make an impact in society then I have to get stronger."

Caitlin wasn't sure if she could agree with that but she didn't say anything about it. It wasn't her place to question his methods, although she did wonder about what he had made Pikachu and Squirtle do while he was working out. Glancing over, Caitlin stared at the two Pokemon at the edge of the clearing who were still going at it, firing attacks at nearby trees.

"Oh, I have them training as well," Vex said when he saw Caitlin staring. "In order for me to efficiently train them to get stronger, I wanted to get a good read on their known movesets. Squirtle knows [Tackle] and [Water Gun] while Pikachu knows [Thundershock], [Iron Tail], and [Quick Attack]. Using the data I got from the Pokedex, I set up a sort of test to see how many times they could use each move."

"Oh so you want to know their limits then?" Caitlin asked, a bit surprised. She had been told by Arceus that this kid didn't know the first thing about Pokemon yet here he was already thinking ahead. Even rookies who grew up with Pokemon overlooked the limitations on movesets and had to pay the price for it when battling. "How'd you figure out to do that first?"

"In theory, everything has a limit," Vex said as he walked towards his bag, pulling out a small towel. He began to pat himself down while Caitlin watched. Even from here she could see the difficulty in which he was trying to bend over. The training had probably been going on much longer then she had initally thought. "If one can find out the limit then it'll provide a good basis for development. It's pretty basic stuff in gym class back home."

(("He got this from gym class?")) Caitlin asked herself as she watched the male walk towards his pokemon. "So how many shots have they released? Did you even keep track?"

"Of course," Vex answered as Pikachu and Squirtle stopped using their moves. "Pikachu's numbers are 23, 14, and 20 for [Thundershock], [Iron Tail], and [Quick Attack] respectively. Squirtle's numbers are 45 and 26 for [Tackle] and [Water Gun], though to be honest I feel as if [Tackle] could be used longer if there's an increase in stamina."

"Impressive." Caitlin was once again amazed at how quick he picked up on things. He clearly wasn't a super genius but he was quite sharp in his own way. With a proper education, the kid could probably become a great trainer in the near future. "So now that you know what the limits are, whats your next move?"

"A quick rest." Vex slumped onto the ground next to Pikachu and Squirtle, sweat dripping down from his hair and sliding down face. "Brock actually woke up before me. Apparently he couldn't sleep very well so he went into town to buy some things. I didn't know this but he's got quite a bit of cash on him. He went to pick up some food and some learning materials that I asked him to get for me to study from."

Caitlin shook her head, unsure of what to think about this kid. He seemed rather goofy and unreliable but he turned out to be clever and diligent, though she still thought of him as a mere fledgling, someone to be molded. When she had flown down here, she truthfully hadn't expected much and, truth be told, she still to this moment wasn't sure if she had made the correct decision. In her opinion, informing the government and elites would bring this ominous foretold future to a swift end. Of course, Arceus was against it and she respected his wishes, choosing to believe he had his reasons for taking this path.

"I'm gonna go to the lake and take a bath." Caitlin walked towards her own bag, opening it and pulling out a dress. "Don't bother me unless its and emergency. If you peek on me, you're dead."

Before Vex could speak, Caitlin walked away, making her way through the forest, parting branches with her psychic powers. After she had walked a good distance, she let out a small sigh before continuing forward.

The lake she had referred to wasn't overly large, but it was clear and sparkling, a picture perfect scenery that was clear of pollution and unsullied by human hands. Not wanting to have to spend money for a hotel or rent a place, Caitlin chose a clearing that was near a body of water so she could keep herself clean. Having been on a journey herself, she knew the basics for survival and camping out.
