Through the forest we walked, the darkness enveloped us. I wondered where we would be heading, but didn't know if I would get a straight answer. Lumin looked to be in a hurry, he was walking with large strides; Lauren couldn't keep up so I scooped her off her feet. When he saw me pick her up he picked up his pace into a light jog, for a normal person, this is like Usain Bolt sprinting his fastest.
" Where are we going... Lumin?" Lauren nuzzled herself out of my chest, opening up her eyes to close them again do to the scenery passing by.
"Somewhere safe. My team is supposed to meet us up ahead. I doubt they were able to defeat Michael, maybe suppress but not defeat," Lumin turned his head to look at the both of us.
" So he couldn't be killed, how sad. Can you tell me about my old mother and if you know, my father as well," I looked into the back of his head, he could sense my gaze so he met my eyes, all this while Lauren looked between the both of us in curiosity.
" That conversation needs to be done while we are both sitting. I don't know if you could handle it without going ballistic. The two are connected quite closely though," I paused wanting to say more but kept my eyes locked onto his gray iris's," Please hold the questions till later, at least ones pertaining your parents."
When I saw the pleading look in his eyes, I looked at the zooming trees beside me, his widened eyes told me if I persisted I would cause immeasurable trouble. We picked up pace without either of us noticing, coming to the log bridge. With my powered-up abilities from an awakening, I guessed, I've read many Fantasy and isekai novels, for this to be happening to me I felt special, but when Lumin talked about his comrades and I looked at he, himself I felt average. Due to the strength in our legs, we shattered the large tree every time we stepped. Lauren held tighter, her nails digging deep cuts into my back. Thankfully we were traveling fast enough for the distance to pass in the blink of an eye, literally.
Seeing Lauren having her eyes shut, trembling with a tear in her left eye, the only one that was visible to me, made me feel excited. Lumin who was now beside me because we joined up after crossing the bridge gave me a disturbed expression.
" What's wrong with you?" he genuinely looked sincere which ticked me off
Like, come on, after seeing such a cute sight who could not feel excited inside. Wait, did I just think this was cute. Lauren looked awful, she was trembling ever so slightly with tears down the side of her face, her nails also dug deeper into my back the longer we continued. I'm fucked up, aren't I?
Heat rushed into my face and to my ears, Damn... I looked forward without glancing at Lumin. Luckily Lauren didn't hear anything due to her ears being assaulted by the wind. I'll her top marks since she didn't pass out, however, my back would be in much better shape if she did.
We shortly arrived at my second home not even a minute later. Lumin came to a halt after slowing himself down a bit, I did the same. He took out a small device from his pants pocket gazing at the number pattern on the top.
" What that?" I said looking at the device with my hands on my hips. I let Lauren rest on the ground beside me, she was panting while spread eagle.
" We have to get rid of your shack. This will do the job," tossing the device up in the air he input a special code.
"No, wait a moment you can't just," in mid-sentence he threw the device, now I know as a bomb, into the cave.
Not even five seconds later, a muffled hissing sound could be heard. That was no regular bomb, the thing dissolved every inch of the cave, leaving a gigantic crater with magma splashing and sizzling with delight.
" All of those years of work... gone," my face showed despair as I fell to my knees, not even able to express a hint of my usual anger.
" Couldn't be helped, you've been in there before which left DNA. That explosion that my friends caused destroyed your house, leaving only a hole. We can't let anything that may be useful be left behind," Lumin kneeled in front of me patting my shoulder.
" Michael was the only one sent here which worked in our favor. Stupid old geezers, they never learn. I contacted our computer friend when we sensed your aura and found out who you were, he is currently erasing you and your family's presence from the world. And Lauren's as well, we have someone with us who can alter memories, so that's no problem," he went into detail so I could be reassured somewhat more," Now get up we need to move."
I walked over to where Lauren was Still in the same position, whereas, she wasn't panting like a dog in heat.
" Nooo! More rest!" she said while complying with by getting into my arms herself, the only thing I needed to do was pick her up. Lauren knew that we had to be in a hurry so her words were more for venting her frustration than anything.
We picked back up our pace with ease. When we were running along I almost ran passed the turn Lumin made, the exact path I started to make, this one lead in the direction towards the mountains. This should have been expected but my brain was in turmoil, one side was dealing with my new 'power-up', while the other half was digesting all that's happened to me thus far.
My father, Peter, died. Oddly no tears came out, of course, I was sad and all, but I felt mostly dull to this feeling. My whole life is a walking tragedy, my past life where I had no friends, my parents died in an early part of my life. I felt so depressed, I committed suicide. Personally, this is the best decision I've ever made, not that I say suicide is okay or anything. If you have suicidal thoughts you should probably receive help. I thought all was well, Peter was an idiot and liked things to go his way, but he was a charming idiot. I wouldn't ask for another father other than him. I will kill Micheal, if its the last thing I do, not a slow death, one where I make him suffer humiliation. I want him to feel the same pain as me, I know this is not right, at all, however, if he has any family I will kill them right in front of him before I make put him out of his misery.
The elders of the clan will know how despair feels when I get to them. I plan on torturing each one, one by one, while they face each other. When they are all dead and gone, with I have no enemies left in this world, I will pray towards all of my loved ones, and myself, who have faced the sadness they've wrought.
While pondering thoughts that could only be said to be a dream as of now, I am in no way strong enough to take my vengeance out on the clan that raised me from childhood to adolescence. we reached to the point I have stopped clearing, not that much-needed clearing but we had to navigate around trees which slowed down our progression.
When we reached around the point where we were in the halfway point from the foot of the mountain, and the path that leads from my course.
"Let's take a break," Lumin said while panting, I noted my breathing was only a smidgen above average. Seeing this Lumin said in the middle of breaths, " Your original ability never had any physical enhancing power, so you would feel like a normal person, even though you awakened. I don't know what happened to you, but if you still have your original ability, you would be truly godlike."
I sat on the ground with Lauren's head on my lap; she had already lost consciousness shortly ago. I looked down and couldn't help but play with her lustrous locks, she always hated when I touched her hair so this was an ideal opportunity. Take advantage of every opportunity in front of you or you'll always be wasting.
" We will be heading to the mountain, my colleagues have already sent me a message saying they're ready for us. We will wait for my friends, then we'll pick up the pace again," Lumin said while leaning on a tree he made his way to, he lost the elegant demeanor he had. Sweat covered his body, I could see some in his eyes which I imagined burned. Sweat in the eyes always sucks. I had sweat on my body but not much. After the awakening I felt like I had boundless energy when my mind started wandering in the perverted region of my brain, I slapped my cheeks to clear such thoughts. For now though.
Gently resting Lauren's head on the solid earth I walked over to where my sister and mother lay. Mom had a long cut down her faces, this would leave a long-lasting scar. She looked like she had aged ten years from the creases and tense expression she wore. Raelith had a relaxed expression on her face, in total opposition to what the mother looked like. Her lips were arched upward, she must be having a happy dream. I felt sorry for her when she wakes up the truth will push her to sadness. Seeing my sister cry is a no-no. Whoever makes her cry will receive a capital offense.
I walked back over to where Lauren lay, motionless, like a doll sleeping peacefully. Not long after a group of tired-looking people came into earshot, their gasping came in before either of us could hear them. hearing their ragged breaths, I knew we would have to expend more time here, while they rest.
When they arrived in front of us they fell to the ground exhausted, the woman with who had big breasts was the worst out of the bunch, with the man with a bow looked the best off. None of them looked ready to walk another step, let alone fight in their condition.
While they were heaving, paying no mind to me at all, the only reason they had to come to this in the first place, Lumin told me about them. The red-haired dude who just looking at him you could tell he had an attitude problem was in one word a dick, he had a rotten personality, but in battle, he could conquer people way stronger than him with his vicious attacks. A good training partner as well, if you didn't mind taking a beating if you held back. His name was James.
The big breasted girl named Lucy specialized in throwing elemental attacks from long range using her Life Essence as a fuel, her firepower was huge, however at the cost of enormous stores of energy. Her personality in Lumin's opinion was a caring individual who would try to help anyone in need, except for her enemies though. A glass cannon of sorts.
The last person in their party of three was Nick, he was an adult, he stopped growing in middle school which was why he was so tiny compared to the rest of them. I felt sorry for the dude, he must have faced some terrible ridicule, kids are monsters. Well, I'm a kid, but I have experience. He was the non-talkative type and how Lumin was talking about him, I bet he would have been a neet if he never entered this screwed upside of the world. He was cute, if he was a girl I would've tried to add him to my harem, not that I'm growing a garden. He used a bow, I was wondering why he didn't have any arrows, I was told that he could mold his inner energy into different types of bolts, his power could be said to be on par with Lucy's if you put his DPS against her strongest attack.
Lauren woke up while Lumin was speaking, she decided to stay quiet to respect our conversation, she interfered a pinch by squeezing my hand as hard as I could. I still felt regular pain if I didn't concentrate on my body like I did when I worked out. My face contorted in pain, I deserved every parcel of pain she gave me, I did get turned on by her expression earlier, so I accepted it all.
When Lumin was finished talking to me, it seemed everyone was ready to resume our way to the pickup point.
