I’m a Hero? Okay

Waiting until the sleeping beauty woke up, Yang Shen unlike every day didn't bother with his daily training routine and instead began descending the mountain.

After asking Lijuan to turn into a less conspicuous form since he knew that there were quite a lot of mercenaries around the outer edges of the mountains and it would be a pain in the ass for him to kill them or watch them being killed by an angry snake, Yang Shen was now walking with a pitch black snake wrapped around his neck.

What was shocking about the snake though was how it didn't look sinister at all, and rather looked quite graceful and free of all things mortal.

Not remembering from which direction he climbed up the mountain, Yang Shen could only rely on the people he would come across while descending the mountain to figure out where there were any towns or cities close by.

However, like always things didn't go according to Yang Shen's plan. Not encountering even a single human on his way down the mountain, Yang Shen was almost forced to start walking in a random direction.

But before he did such a thing, Yang Shen looked towards the snake which was sleeping with a satisfied look.

Using his fingers to knock on the snake's head and waking it up, Yang Shen didn't wait for it to start complaining and quickly said, "Can you find out if there are any towns or cities close by?"

Hisssss!!!

Hissing angrily as if this question wasn't worth her time and definitely didn't deserve waking her up in such a way, Lijuan's voice came through the opened snake's mouth, "I can't sense any towns close by, but there's a village not too far from here, Master."

"A village? Fine. Which direction?"

"That way."

Pointing the direction with her tongue, the black snake once again closed its eyes and fell asleep.

"Since you're a beast, shouldn't you be the one carrying me? Why am I carrying you?"

"Because my speed is very fast, and Master likes to enjoy the journey, not the destination."

Rolling his eyes since he was the one who said those words, Yang Shen spoke no more and began walking in the direction that Lijuan pointed him in.

"How did a village with not even a proper fence around it manage to exist in such a place?"

Looking towards the signs of settlement in the distance which had poorly made wooden fences which looked like they belonged around an animal pen around it, Yang Shen could only hope that they'd have a map or know the direction of the nearest city.

Walking towards the village which existed right in the middle of flatlands with no natural barriers around it on any side, Yang Shen began thinking that maybe no beasts existed around here due to which such a poor and weak looking village could exist in the middle of nowhere.

Not too long after he thought this, Yang Shen was forced to think that maybe he jinxed the village.

After all, just as he got close enough to the village to see the houses existing inside the fence, a huge red bull started rushing towards it.

"A Flaming Bull."

Alternating his gaze between the village and the Low Grade Profound Beast, which were both on his either sides, Yang Shen sighed and understood that he had to kill it.

After all, there was no guarantee that the Profound Beast would ignore him if he chose to step aside.

And even if it did, he'd have to wait until the residents of the village killed it before asking for directions.

Withdrawing the Myriad Beasts Spear from his inventory and holding it with both of his hands, Yang Shen activated the Zhuyan form.

Pouring his Qi inside the spear which was showing off a sturdy brown colour like that of the mountain rock, Yang Shen only stopped after he felt its weight almost exceeding his limit.

Looking towards the red bull whose tail had a fire at its end, Yang Shen didn't hesitate in swinging the spear using all of his strength.

Bang!

Striking the side of the bull's head with the Myriad Beast Spear, Yang Shen's feet dug a little inside the ground as he fought against the charging force of the bull.

Holding his stance as the beast's speed was quite a lot and therefore almost caused him to lose grasp of his spear, Yang Shen who had discovered that he could increase the weight of the spear without worrying about affecting its movement speed or momentum poured even more Qi inside it.

Feeling the spear turning heavier, Yang Shen no longer worried about the bull which was trying to continue moving forward despite being struck by the Myriad Beasts Spear.

With the additional weight which was too much for even Yang Shen to lift by himself, the huge bull was all of a sudden flung far away and left with a huge dent on the side of its head.

[Killed a Low Grade Profound Beast. Obtained 5,000 XP.]

The very instant Yang Shen read those words, he had a bad premonition that he had neglected something.

'The corpse!'

Raising his head, the little hope Yang Shen had that maybe he wasn't too late was crushed to smithereens as he saw the snake which was lying asleep around his neck fly out like an arrow and swallow the huge corpse whole without even having to turn into its huge form.

Licking her lips with her forked tongue, Lijuan with a satisfied look on her snake face wrapped herself back around Yang Shen's neck.

Feeling like crying since he had lost 200 Points just like that, Yang Shen could only sigh and put the Myriad Beasts Spear away.

Turning around and continuing to walk towards the village, Yang Shen soon arrived at the entrance of the village.

Seeing that there weren't any gates, or even a board which had the village's name written on it, Yang Shen felt the chance of finding a map turning even less. But after taking one look towards the sun which would soon set, Yang Shen decided that he'd spend the night here and then see if he could find the directions to any place from here.

Surprisingly though, even before Yang Shen could pass through the gap in the fence, a great number of humans began running towards him with eyes full of reverence.

"All hail the hero!"

"Thanks for saving our village from that demon bull young hero!"

"Ahhhh! The hero looks so handsome!"

Hero?

Demon bull?

Quickly understanding what was happening, Yang Shen realized that the people of the village misunderstood his intentions behind killing the beast.

But so what?

He wasn't the kind of idiot who would act all humble and reveal the truth.

Smiling proudly, Yang Shen further straightened his back and began enjoying the countless praises he was being showered with and the sea of infatuated glances being directed towards him from all the women among the crowd surrounding him.
