"You…" he growled, pinching his nose with one hand to stop the bleeding and used the other to look for a handkerchief in his pocket to wipe off the blood dripping down on him.
Ying Yue looked at him without care or pity. Two streaks of blood were running down the man's chin, disappearing onto his navy blue sweater. The can of mushrooms she was holding on to already had a large dent on one side, and she put it back on the shelf as if it was already like that when she picked it up.
"If you're not going to answer me, I can hit you with every can on this shelf." She said chillingly. "So… are you from Jade Circle?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Guan Ting turned to leave in a hurry. His mission was already compromised. There was no point in staying.
He was a few steps away from her when he heard a swish of air and there was a thud as he felt a heavy hit on the back of his head. He stopped in his tracks in a daze as a can of mushrooms fell on the ground with a loud clank and rolled on his feet. This damn woman actually dared to throw a can at him!
He made a complete 180 degree turn as he marched back to where she was. The anger bubbling up inside him made him growl and raise a fist at Ying Yue who was calmly checking her nails as if she did nothing wrong.
"Hit me if you can," she said mockingly as she continued to examine her nails, oblivious to the man's internal struggle.
Guan Ting froze. Damn it. This was Fei Huangjin's woman. His master would kill him if he laid a finger on her. However, he had never met a more infuriating woman in his life. She was like a little bitchy chihuahua who barked and bit hard. She must have picked on Wang Longwei the same way, and that was probably why the Jade Circle after her.
He brought his fist down and took a couple of deep breaths to relax. She was, after all, the future madame of Dragon Club. But he didn't like this woman one bit.
In just a few seconds, Guan Ting had stalked off the aisle and disappeared. Seeing that he didn't try to attack her, she let him be.
As she was already left to herself, Ying Yue frowned. That man looked a lot like he was aggravated by her, so why didn't he do anything?
Well, she just had to be thankful, right? A dumbfounded look flashed briefly through Ying Yue's face as she stalked over to find Fei Huangjin.
When Ying Yue finally found him at the fish section, he was standing still with his arms crossed, staring intently at the fishmonger who was holding out a bag of fish to him. They looked like they were in a stand-off.
The fishmonger was looking exasperated from holding up the bag for too long, and he narrowed his eyes at Fei Huangjin unkindly. "Do you want the fish or not?"
Fei Huangjin demeanor grew several degrees colder and his gaze was akin to a sharp knife, slashing towards the man. "As I've said, I'm not touching something that dirty. Put it on my cart yourself."
"Sir, this is how it is in the supermarket. I clean the fish for you and you take it." The man was already quite annoyed now, and his tone was unfriendly to Fei Huangjin.
"If you want to keep your job, put it in my cart."
Ying Yue shook her head. The neat freak CEO Fei was in full monster mode again. She could tell that Fei Huangjin was losing his patience, and she stepped in to relieve the situation. "I'll take it." She grabbed the bag and dumped it in the cart, giving Fei Huangjin a disapproving look.
What did I do? He thought.
"Sir, I apologize for my friend here," she pointed a thumb at Fei Huangjin as she leaned over to whisper conspiratorially to the man across her, "He just came out to his family and hasn't been accepted yet. You know how fathers can be scary when their only son turns out different from what they expect him to be. This guy just passed the stage of denial, so now he's angry at everyone."
The fishmonger glanced at Fei Huangjin at a new light and gave him a sympathetic look. He was instantly reminded of his daughter who came out to him last month that she wasn't interested at all with boys. He almost cried at the thought that he was never going to see her get married off and start her own family, but he got over it because he loved her nonetheless.
"Aiya, don't be so hard on yourself, lass. They're not family if they don't accept you. Your father might take it hard at first but you're still his son."
Ying Yue grinned. The man actually believed her.
When she faced Fei Huangjin, she was slightly startled by the way he squinted his eyes at her, showing long and narrow slits as irritation and anger faintly flashed across his face. He could endure the occasional teasing, but he could not when someone was trying to sully his reputation as a man -- and in the very supermarket that he owned!
Fei Huangjin's thick eyebrows were dipped in the middle and his lips were twisted into a half-sneer and a half-pout. His face turned dark, causing Ying Yue to second-guess if she did the right thing. Just when he opened his mouth, Ying Yue grabbed his cart and ran off, pushing it in front of her in a hurry.
He eyed the back of the woman who was obviously trying to escape from his wrath and rubbed his eyebrows resignedly. She was really becoming more brazen each day.
Unable to do anything now, he slipped a hand into one trouser pocket and sauntered over to the direction of where she disappeared to.
