You shameless thing

Fei Huangjin was exasperated with himself, pacing the kitchen with a hand running through his hair every now and then. His handsome face looked ashen as he occasionally glanced at the door to the washroom.

Why did he have to get upset that way? He momentarily cringed as he recalled how he almost forced the kiss on her. For the first time in his life, he was now at a loss of what to do.

Was she upset that he took her first kiss like that? Was that why she was tearing up? Did she want to leave? Should he take her home or should he insist on them having dinner first? His mind was one big jumble. He had to admit to himself that for someone as excellent as him, he really didn't know how to please a woman. It's not like he's ever seriously dated before anyway.

Staring at the groceries he had placed on the countertop, an image of Ying Yue's smiling face as she latched on to his arm at the supermarket infiltrated his thoughts. She looked so happy to know that he was going to cook what she wanted.

He tapped on the countertop several times with his index finger as he pondered it for a bit. Then, he carefully took the ingredients out. It seemed that the only thing he could do now was cook.

It had already been a couple of minutes in the washroom before Ying Yue stood up from the toilet seat. Her legs had regained their strength and she slowly walked to the bathroom mirror to take a good look at herself. What she saw made her grimace.

Her hair was tousled, her cheeks were still slightly flushed, and her eyes weren't puffy but were red-rimmed and widely staring back at her. With this kind of look, Fei Huangjin surely wouldn't want to kiss her again.

She flushed even more when she realized what she had just thought about. "Ying Yue, what are you even thinking? You shameless thing," she groaned, pinching her cheeks in punishment. One moment she was emotional about the kiss and now she wanted to get another one. Pursing her lips, she suppressed the need to scream right now.

The motion sensor on the tap detected her hand movement and it poured out water, making her momentarily surprised. She bent down and stared at the tap that indeed didn't have a lever -- just a blinking sensor up front. "Huh," she whispered. When she really thought about, she should've expected this much from the man. Fei Huangjin was the richest man in the city. His home would be nothing short of high technology, obviously.

Ying Yue combed her hair with one hand and then thoroughly washed her face, hoping that the cool liquid would bring down the heat on her face. When she saw that she wasn't as flushed as before, she decided to unlock the door and head out.

She followed the sound of something sizzling towards the kitchen, and leaned on the wall as she stared at Fei Huangjin cooking a few dishes for dinner.

His sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, showing a muscular forearm. He also donned a white linen apron with a matching set of mitts as he took out something from the oven. He set it on the countertop to cool and the smell of lemon-butter salmon wafted in the air.

Ying Yue's heartbeat quickened. She recalled asking him to make that dish for her.

Sweat was gleaming off Fei Huangjin's brow as he checked on the dumplings that he was steaming and the pork ribs that sizzled on the hot plate. They were almost cooked.

She didn't think Fei Huangjin could look any better than he already did, but right now, she was sure panties all over the country would get torn just at the sight of him cooking.

Feeling a certain presence in the kitchen, he turned to see Ying Yue leaning on the wall with her arms crossed and her head tilted to one side, watching him intently. He drew in a sharp breath. Her eyes were still slightly red and she looked like she just washed her face. It was devoid of any makeup, and yet her skin was smooth and clear, reminding him of the first drops of rain in the summer. For some reason, he wanted to hold her and kiss her again.
