My phone

Fei Huangjin stood up, scowling at Fei Haocheng's grinning face.

"Oh, how are you, secretary Ying? I just have a few questions for you, if you don't mind!" Realizing that Huangjin was most likely going to attack him any moment now, the other man fled to the door just as his brother circled his desk like a tiger about to pounce on his prey.

"I'm all ears, Vice President Fei."

Before Fei Haocheng could say anything else, his phone was pulled out from his hands and thrown heavily against the wall, falling to the ground with a large smacking sound.

"My phone!!!" The younger brother knelt to the ground, picking up his new month-old phone gently with both hands. There were large cracks across the screen from the impact and it was now marred with a large dent. It also wasn't turning on no matter how hard he pressed the power button. His face darkened instantly. "How could you throw my phone out like that just because I called your little girlfriend?"

Fei Huangjin pursed his lips as he glared down at his younger brother unempathetically. He didn't like the way he referred to Ying Yue as his "little girlfriend." There was nothing little or inferior about her. Besides, since Haocheng had only barely skimmed the surface of training when their father was alive, he never became as good as Huangjin at fighting. If he were to place a bet between his brother and his girlfriend, he was sure to bet on Ying Yue to live.

"I'll call Zhang Zihan to send you a new phone. As for Ying Yue, you only need to know that she'll be your future sister-in-law, so I expect you to take her seriously."

Fei Haocheng, who was in a foul mood just moments ago, lit up after hearing his brother say his piece. Even if he got his phone damaged, at least he was getting a new one from Zhang Electronics and he finally got what he came for: his cold asshole of a brother had admitted his relationship with secretary Ying.

Pretending that he was still angry at Fei Huangjin, Haocheng stood up with a scowl. "Just make sure to pay for my phone before sending it over."

***

Ying Yue frowned. One moment Fei Haocheng was sounding enthusiastic over the phone, and the next second the call was cut off before he could say anything else. Counting the days from when his brother had sent him on a business trip, she estimated that he must have already arrived today. Was he with Fei Huangjin right now then?

She thought about the two brothers who were frequently at odds with each other and snickered.

Ying Yue then proceeded to her walk-in closet. The secret compartments behind her clothes were all opened, revealing several rows and arrays of guns, knives, and the rest of her gear. Actually, she was cleaning her knives right before Fei Haocheng's call came in.

The corner of her eye spotted her safe on one side of the compartment and she bent down to open it. She rarely opened her safe, but today was one of those rare days. She couldn't sleep after that dinner at Fei Huangjin's house. Her mind flew to the memory of their kiss when she tried to lay down, so she might as well do something productive if she couldn't rest.

She idly pressed her thumb on a square panel, which glowed light blue when it recognized her thumbprint. Then, she keyed in Ying Shen's birthday. The safe opened with a soft click, and its door opened without a single creaking sound.

It had two shelves inside. On the top, were her various passports, accounts, and a flash drive of her own findings on the Jade Circle. The information typed in there was barely anything notable. Since a lot of the high-ranking officials in the Jade Circle were kept a secret, the information there was mostly just about Wang Longwei.

On the bottom shelf, was the small framed photo of her and her brother. Ying Yue picked it up with trembling fingers.

For some reason, Ying Shen asked her to take a photo with him a few days before her birthday and printed it out for her to keep. At that time, she didn't quite understand what prompted him to do that for her. Between the two of them, it was Ying Yue who acted clingy, always asking him to take photos with her. And back then, he always used to refuse. So when Ying Shen suddenly asked her to take a photo of the two of them that day, she jumped at the opportunity. She remembered being so happy about it back then.

Looking back, he might have done that because he knew he was going to betray the Jade Circle, and that Ying Yue would live on to need a memento of their time together.

"That photo of you and me that's in your wallet? Don't you ever lose that. You hear me?" Ying Shen's words echoed in her mind.
