"Honestly? No." She sighed, resigning herself to sit on an empty chair in the room. "If I knew, I wouldn't be here, would I?"
The door creaked open and Big Boss strode in with a grim look on his face, causing Ying Yue to sit up in attention. "If Xi Shenghui didn't call to inform me that he drove you here, I wouldn't even know you're in Juyan. Don't you respect me at all?"
Guilt briefly flashed across her face but this was immediately replaced with a sweet smile. "I was just about to head over to your office."
"Why is she here?" He didn't bother looking at Ying Yue and directed his question to Mo Yiling, instead.
She couldn't help but feel like she was being ignored. She grumbled silently in her head. It wasn't like she stepped out of line or anything. Big Boss was just acting like a child. How old was this guy anyway? He was in his 40's already but he was acting a bit immature.
The genius just jutted out a chin to her. "She found something. Go ask her."
Big Boss sighed exasperatingly and sat down across Ying Yue. He looked at her expectantly, but the woman just grinned back at him for a solid minute.
"Ying Shen left me a code. I just found out about it tonight."
He frowned back at her. It's been six years since Ying Shen left her at Juyan with him. Why did she just come across this code now? "Are you sure that's legitimate?"
"It's real. It was in the photo he left me all along."
"That photo I told you to burn?"
She nodded in reply. It was a good thing she fought tooth and nail for that photo to be kept. Otherwise, she'd never find that stash. "I want to know if you know anything about M-8927."
He stilled. The code jogged a distant memory in his mind and he narrowed his eyes at her. "M-8927 was your brother's favorite gun."
"Gun? Do you know where it is?" Her eyes lit up like a candle in the dark. She didn't expect Big Boss to know about it. However, the light in here eyes quickly died out as he shook his head in reply. They needed the one that her brother owned. They couldn't possibly collect all the M-8927 guns produced in the world.
Without the gun, they were back to square one.
Mo Yiling's voice punctured the atmosphere. "If the gun is the clue, he might have put it somewhere for safekeeping."
"That still doesn't change the fact that we don't know where it could be." Big Boss eyed her carefully. "It might not even be a clue."
Ying Yue stood up. No amount of words could describe her disappointment right at that moment. She was so happy when she found that code on the photograph, but now they were telling her that it just led them to a dead-end.
She wasn't ready to give up yet. Staring down at Big Boss, she shook her head at him as her eyes blazed in determination. "Maybe he left it with you somewhere in Juyan."
The man sighed. "Ying Shen was only here once before. He didn't leave me with anything."
"Maybe he gave you a clue where it could be. Otherwise why would he tell you that was his favorite gun?"
"It was mentioned in passing when we were talking about guns."
She raised up a hand to silence him. "He must have left you a clue like how he left me with one."
"Shadow fox--" Big Boss stood up.
She stepped back. "There must be something else to M-8927. Maybe it's not a gun--"
"Shadow fox."
"--maybe they're coordinates."
"Ying Yue!" Big Boss yelled, startling both Mo Yiling and Ying Yue.
The woman looked up at him with her lips pursed. Various emotions flashed across her face and he rubbed his forehead as he spoke to her in a kinder tone. "We don't know where the gun is. It might have gone with Ying Shen or it might be with someone else. If I were you, I'd leave it be until we get another clue. Even if your brother did keep that gun for you to find, we don't know what finding it means."
There was a stubborn look on her face as she looked away and eyed Mo Yiling. "Get me a list of every possible address or thing that M-8927 could represent. Also, get me a list of people in the city in possession of an M-8927 gun."
Mo Yiling nodded. "It's gonna be a long list to tick off." Just thinking about it made him crazy.
"And I'll check out every one of them. Unlike some people, I don't give up halfway."
She was clearly referring to Big Boss, and the man in question sighed as he placed his hands on his hips. By doing what she planned to do, he knew she was just going to get her hopes up. He didn't want her to get hurt any more than she already did.
