They aren't letting me in

He had passed by several times on her desk, and each time, he reflexively turned to ask her something, getting frustrated when he only found her seat empty. He ended up almost firing every damn employee who had documents to be signed or had a meeting with him that morning.

A few times, he found himself picking up the phone to ask her over. He wanted to get her opinion on some things.

He didn't realize how much he'd gotten used to her over the year until she actually disappeared on him.

"Sir?"

Fei Huangjin snapped back to the present, squinting his eyes at whoever was calling him out. The man presenting his proposal ducked his head in guilt.

The others sent him furtive glances.

He became intensely irritated and stood up, looked around the room with a steely look on his face before stepping out without a word. When the door slammed behind him, the employees in the meeting room became flustered and a commotion broke out. They were worried they'd be fired by the CEO.

The door to Fei Huangjin's office only briefly opened before the man strode out again, this time with his briefcase in tow.

Ying Yue never flaked out on her responsibilities like this. Something must have happened for her to disappear on him. Did he scare her off last night? Should he have taken it slower? Should he have given in to her requests? His steps became more hurried as his mind flew to other possibilities. Did she really send those text messages? What if the Jade Circle came to get her?

He pressed the button of the lift to the carpark repeatedly. He had to see her.

Mr. Yang was cleaning the windshield of the Audi when he came down, but as the boss, he waved him away. He wanted to drive to her himself.

If she wanted a break from being his secretary, he'd give it to her. He just had to know she was okay.

The security personnel at the front desk of her apartment stopped him when he stepped in, and Fei Huangjin flashed the man a look that made him freeze. His lips thinned in displeasure and he directed his attention to the female receptionist. "I need the apartment number of Miss Ying Yue."

"I'm sorry sir, but we're not allowed to provide outsiders with information regarding our residents." The receptionist looked sheepish as she said this to the handsome man in front of her. She'd seen a lot of good-looking men come and go at this building, but this man was on a different scale altogether.

Fei Huangjin cocked his head to one side and picked up his phone, dialing Xiao Yifeng's number. Thankfully, the man picked up right away.

"Huangjin?" The disbelief in his tone was apparent. Fei Huangjin barely ever called them unless he was inviting them out or needed to blow some steam.

"I'm at Sea View Horizons to see my woman. They aren't letting me in."

Xiao Yifeng's eyebrows rose up in surprise, and he briefly checked his watch for the time. It was the middle of the day and it was still within working hours. What in the world was Fei Huangjin doing out of the office? "I'll help you out if you come over Monday night with Zihan."

"Deal."

"Give the phone to the front desk."

Fei Huangjin didn't like other people touching his things, so he put his phone on loudspeaker and set it on the reception table. He gestured for the receptionist to speak.

The woman stared at the phone with a dumbfounded look before shifting her gaze back to Fei Huangjin. The unreadable icy expression on his face scared her, and she uttered out a greeting. "Um.. he- hello?"

"This is Xiao Yifeng."

Recognizing the name, the woman straightened her back. Even the security personnel's eyes widened. They wouldn't fail to recognize the man who owned the building and the rest of Xiao Enterprises. "CEO Xiao!"

"What's your name?"

"Yu-- Yu Chengxin, sir."

Fei Huangjin pursed his lips in annoyance and checked his watch. He was itching to get up to Ying Yue's apartment. This was taking too long for his liking.

Xiao Yifeng's voice filtered through the speakers in a calm but commanding tone. "Yu Chengxin, inform security to grant young master Fei access to the building at any time." The woman eyes flew to Fei Huangjin, and was startled with the aura of indifference radiating off him like the rays of the sun. This was the young master of the Fei's? No wonder! "If you do your job well, I'll have HR give you a raise. If not, well, we'll see."

The threatening tone of Xiao Yifeng's last words made her hands tremble. "Yes, CEO Xiao."

Fei Huangjin took his phone back as the woman nodded at the security personnel. She turned around to unlock a hidden safe, producing a dark blue card with the logo of Sea View Horizons and Xiao Enterprises embossed on it. "Her apartment is on the 18th floor, young master. Number 1808."

Fei Huangjin didn't bother with pleasantries and took the card off her hands. He didn't have time to waste.
