That's beside the point

What was so wrong with getting married right away? He didn't see the point of waiting for too long to make it happen.

He buttoned his suit jacket calmly, his eyes never leaving her face. "What's the difference between getting a marriage certificate today and next month? We've already decided to get married anyway." Fei Huangjin was a businessman, after all. He believed in striking while the iron was hot and taking opportunities when they came.

Ying Yue gave him an incredulous look. "You're rushing this too much. This was already a big decision for me and you're making things difficult. Don't push your luck, Mr. Fei."

"If you want, we can have the wedding ceremony at a later time."

"That's beside the point, Huangjin." She lifted her hands up in defeat and started walking to the door, but her movement was halted by someone tugging at her arm.

Fei Huangjin moved to face her. "Wait, let's talk about this."

She frowned at him. "Oh, now you want to talk?"

"I thought you wanted to get married to me?" He looked hurt, like she dashed out his light by pouring cold water all over him.

Ying Yue became slightly annoyed. He was clearly playing the victim to guilt-trip her into doing what he wanted, and the troublesome thing was that it was working, and she didn't like feeling that way. "I do, but be reasonable, Huangjin. We can't get married right now."

"Then how about later?"

She heaved an exasperated sigh, and she had the urge to pull out her hair in frustration. Did he not understand a word she said?

"Being married to me puts you at a pedestal in the underworld. You can still be targeted by the Jade Circle as my girlfriend or fiance, but no one can touch you as my wife." His fingers twitched. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either. Being the Dragon Club master's mistress would afford her all the resources he had in the underworld, but even just as his fiancé, she would already be untouchable. "If you're not in any hurry to find your brother's stash, we can wait until next month to get our marriage certificate."

He knew she was on edge about her brother and the Jade Circle, and although it was wrong to use it for his own gain, he did it anyway.

Besides, he believed that it was for both their best interests.

"Okay. Okay." She held up a hand to massage her forehead. She could already feel a raging headache about to cause havoc and she closed her eyes with a sigh to calm herself down.

A warm breath blew across her forehead, and a soft pair of lips landed where her hand was. "I'm sorry. I won't push you."

She felt tired all of a sudden, and she was no longer in a mood to argue. "Just not today, okay?"

Fei Huangjin suppressed a smile. He could already foresee the white flag of surrender in the distance. Maybe if he asked her again tomorrow, she'd relent. He made a mental note to see the Fei family jeweller tonight before catching up with Xiao Yifeng and Zhang Zihan. "Okay."

Ying Yue gently pried his arms off her and flashed him a disconcerted look. "You have a meeting with the representative from Changsu in a few minutes. Keep your hands to yourself in the workplace, CEO Fei."

He couldn't help but smirk at the way she was reprimanding him. He would probably have said the same thing to any employee in his company, but when it came to Ying Yue… He shook his head lightly, fixing his tie. "Is it Director Chang again?"

"No. They said they'll be sending someone else from here on. Also…" She bit her lip and eyed him hesitantly. "I know you asked for my opinion purposely back in the meeting room."

His paused, his eyes glinted teasingly at her. "Oh?" Did she figure out that he was trying to show everyone how brilliant his fiancé really was at work?

Heh. Fiance. That word has a nice ring to it.

"Well, thanks for that. However, you don't have to do that again. I've decided to take your offer on that scholarship, but not until we take care of the Jade Circle." She turned to leave the room, the alluring sway of her hips and the curve of her butt attracting his eyes almost immediately.

Beautiful, brilliantly intelligent, enticing… Sweet heavens, he was about to marry a goddess.
