"Welcome to City Dreams Love Hotel," the receptionist perked up at the sight of the couple in front of her. The woman looked young and fresh, like a model on her day-off. And the man… he was a fine piece of meat that made her want to cat-call him. He was tall, with a good build, and just by looking at him, she could tell he had six-pack abs underneath that black sweater he was wearing. She felt her face heat up at the sight of him.
"We'd like to stay for a week." Ying Yue said, rifling through her backpack to look for her wallet. Love hotels were safer to stay in because they don't verify ID's and some don't even ask for them at all.
The receptionist flitted her eyes between the young woman and the man beside her who made no attempt to say anything. She didn't like the fact that he was letting the young woman pay for their room. Was the man poor? Was this young woman a model or actress who wanted to sleep with this hunk of a man? She nodded to herself. That's right. This guy must be her bodyguard, or some asshole who wanted to bed the girl for money. He's a gigolo, for sure!
Her initial adoration for the man paved the way for dislike.
Ying Yue finally found her wallet and peered at the receptionist who was now silent, glaring at Fei Huangjin beside her. "Is there a problem? Are there any rooms available?"
The woman turned to her and beckoned Ying Yue to come closer to the desk. And although Ying Yue was perplexed, she did so anyway.
"Sweetie, you're a pretty girl. You're some model or actress aren't you? We get those kinds of guests all the time. You deserve someone better than this guy who wouldn't even pay for your room. He might be some good quality gigolo, but I suggest you get a decent boyfriend instead."
Ying Yue's eyes widened slightly and bit her lip to stop herself from laughing, and she glanced at Fei Huangjin whose face had darkened. A threatening aura could be felt radiating off him. It was obvious he had heard what the receptionist was whispering to her about. "You're mistaken." She smiled at her. "This guy is my fiancé. We're eloping." She raised her left hand to show the ring on her finger.
The receptionist's mouth formed an 'O' and she quickly tried to hide her embarrassment by shifting to another topic. "Oh, oh, well then, what kind of room would you like? We have the regular deluxe rooms, and we have themed rooms like—"
"What's your most expensive room?"
Both women turned to Fei Huangjin who now suddenly seemed interested. It was Ying Yue who recovered first from her surprise. "Darling, our money is just enough for a regular room."
Fei Huangjin shook his head, refuting her. "I went to the bank just now, remember? My business is doing well so I'm sure we can afford a more expensive one. Besides," one corner of his lips pulled up, "I only want the best for my future wife – other people might think I'm a gigolo if I pretend to be stingy."
Ying Yue flashed him a look. They were supposed to work within the budget provided to them by Juyan. He simply ignored her, and, as if reading her mind, took out his own wallet, handing a wad of cash to the receptionist. "Is this enough?"
The woman's eyes widened at the sight of it and started counting the bills she'd received. "This is more than enough, sir!" In fact, he had given twice more than what was needed.
"Good. Keep the change. I hope that'll be enough to buy your silence with our presence here." He gestured to Ying Yue with his hand. "She's a well-known model who graced the runway in Paris and London, so our elopement has to be kept a secret. Do you understand?"
She nodded eagerly. "My lips are sealed, sir. Let me get your room cards for you."
Ying Yue turned to Fei Huangjin with a hand on her hip. Things didn't seem to go as planned with this man here.
