The couple of days meant for scouting flew by in a jiffy. No one had come to the love hotel to ask about them, which meant that so far, the receptionist was keeping her silence. And whenever the two of them had to go out to scout the area, they both had to wear a few prosthetics to keep themselves unidentifiable.
Fei Huangjin could hear Ying Yue's quiet breathing through the earpiece that connected them with Juyan. They were separated at the moment—Ying Yue preparing to infiltrate the facility, while he was keeping watch with a sniper rifle. If need be, his task was to take out the security around her entry. He would head inside half an hour later to help her get out.
And of course, as a precaution, he had secretly called a few of his best men in the Dragon Club to be on standby a quarter of a mile away from the facility. Guan Ting was with them.
"T minus 10 seconds until I go in," Ying Yue said over the earpiece.
He bit his lip in anticipation, and he couldnt help feeling a bit uneasy – his chest was tight and his breathing was a bit unsteady as he listened to one of the Juyan staff counting down the seconds until Ying Yue would go in.
"10… 9… 8…"
Ying Yue eyed Fei Huangjin's hiding spot from afar. He was effectively camouflaged. He was better at this spy thing than she thought he'd be.
"7… 6…5…"
She wanted to tell him to be careful, that she didn't want anything happening to him.
"4… 3…"
But she had to be strong, and she didn't want to seem like she was the least bit worried about tonight's mission. "Hey Huangjin, watch me kick some ass, alright?" His eyebrow twitched as he heard it.
"2… 1… Proceed, shadow fox."
She didn't wait for Fei Huangjin to reply and crawled through the fence she'd cut through earlier. The weather had been hot and humid lately, rendering the ground dry. That was good news to her, of course, because getting mud in her clothes would only draw attention.
She dusted herself off and strode over confidently towards the facility. She was wearing the exact same clothes that the security team was wearing, and she took out the flashlight in her pocket to act like she was inspecting the place.
"Hey, you there!"
Ying Yue turned around fearlessly. She had prosthetics added to her face to make her look like one of the daytime female guards. "What?"
The man drew closer and shined his flashlight on her. The glare made her squint. But barely a few seconds later, she knew he recognized her when the man turned off his flashlight, and a confused look adorned his face. "Tingting, weren't you in the afternoon duty?"
"I'm working overtime." She said confidently.
Xi Shenghui got to work, pulling a file on the female guard they used. "Tell him that your papa is still in the hospital," he said through the earpiece.
Ying Yue cocked her head to one side and pretended to scratch her neck. "Papa's still admitted. I need some cash to pay off his bills. You know how it goes, right?"
The man looked flustered at her response. "Oh yeah—uh, I heard about that. Well, carry on."
She nodded, pulling her cap lower as she continued pretending to inspect the outside of the facility.
Fei Huangjin released a breath he didn't know he was holding as he watched Ying Yue disappear through one of the doors to the facility. "I'm in," he heard her say, "I'm heading to the basement."
Honestly, this spy work was a little too dangerous for his wife, if he may say so. Plus, he had to postpone meetings and cramp his schedule the few days before he went on this trip, which explained why he barely got to come home before leaving with Ying Yue. He also had some engagements he had to fulfill when he returned. This meant that he wouldn't be able to come out and accompany her everytime she would need to go out on the field herself. And knowing Ying Yue, she was sure to miss the thrill of being outside the Juyan headquarters.
He checked his watch. He had a few minutes to go before heading in.
"There are no stairs leading to the basement," she muttered. They weren't able to secure an updated blueprint of the facility, because it wasn't available in the government public building records. And the one that they had didn't even show that a basement existed. "I'll have to take the elevator down."
