CHAPTER 13

The couple went home without speaking. Jayce didn't know where or how to begin. Mae on the other hand waited for Jayce to say something. She doesn't want to out him in an uncomfortable situation.

"Mae..." Jayce began. She just looked at him waiting for him to speak.

"I..." he couldn't continue...

"If you're not ready to tell me then don't push yourself," she calmly said and gave Jayce a warm smile.

Jayce hugged her and buried his face in her neck.

"Thank you," was all he could say.

"I do have one request," Mae said. Jayce looked at her.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Promise me that there will be no secrets between us, I know this marriage is for business only but at least let's be honest with each other, I think we deserve that" she said.

Jayce smiled and nodded.

What if the marriage is not just because of business? He thought and looked at Mae.

"I promise to be honest at all times. But for now, let's chill, just seeing Alice makes my energy level is low,"he said. Mae chuckled and went straight to the mini bar.

"I agree, she's so intense a while ago," she said and opened a bottle of wine. She poured two glasses of wine and handed Jayce the other glass.

"How the hell did you meet her anyway?" Jayce asked.

"We took some classes together back in uni, I knew she didn't consider me a friend but I didn't want to be rude and avoid her you know..." she replied.

"What was the wrong publicity you mentioned? I'm curious..." Jayce asked. Mae looked at him.

"I think you know... you were there," she said and drank her wine in one gulp.

"Uhmm no," he replied confused. Mae sighed,

"It was a month before the Evol Project..." she started... will I tell him? she thought...

"Okay?? So what happened back then?" He asked. Mae looked at him surprised.

"You don't remember?" Mae asked, surprised.

"N-no... I don't... It was three years ago how could I remember?" he replied, his voice was full of curiosity. "And how should I know?"

"You just promised not to keep secrets, but, just now you're denying..." Mae said with a disappointed voice.

"I'm serious... I don't know what you're talking about," he replied.

He clasped Mae's hand and looked at her.

"How could you forget? What was between you and Alice? Are you kidding me?" Mae's voice went up. Jayce didn't understand why Mae was upset.

"Dead ass, I don't remember, please believe me," he said and tried so hard to remember but his mind really can't come up with anything.

"Never mind, I'm tired. I'm going to sleep," Mae said and headed straight to her bedroom.

Mae didn't understand why he can't remember, she was just an onlooker but she remembers every detail of that day. Maybe he's lying? But he looked so lost when she brought up the story... Was it trauma? Did his brain got so scared that it locked all the bad memories of that day?

She didn't know what to think so she just took a long shower.

Jayce was left in the mini bar trying to remember what happened 3 years ago... What was Mae talking about? What happened back then? He tried so hard to remember but he still was left with a blurred memory.

He got so annoyed that he opened a bottle of tequila and drank the entire bottle in just one sitting!!!

The next thing he knows he was headed straight to Mae's room.

He quietly opened the door and went inside, Mae just finished taking a shower. He quietly came up to her which shocked Mae.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Mae said and tied her robe, she wasn't wearing anything underneath.

"What are you not telling me Mae?" Jayce asked her. She could smell alcohol from him so she knows he's drunk... How the hell did he get so drunk in under 15 minutes?! She thought.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that question?" she asked, she's worried that something might happen between them so she kept distancing herself. But Jayce just kept moving forward.

"Don't play dumb Mae!!!" he shouted and smashed the mirror. At this point, Mae was already freaking out but she kept telling herself to keep calm.

"Okay Jayce, calm down," She said and looked at Jayce's hand, it was already bleeding.

"Tell me Mae, are you afraid?" he asked when he came closer and closer, there's nowhere else to go. Mae was in a corner and Jayce was a few feet away.

"Should I be?" Mae asked, Jayce stopped on his tracks and looked at her. She focused on playing tai chi with her words to avoid Jayce's sudden advancements.

"N-no... no..." He replied and took a step back. Mae felt relief when her technique worked and immediately took a shirt from her table and wrapped it around Jayce's bleeding hand.

"You should be more careful Jayce, c'mon let's wash your wound before it gets infected," she said, she tried to hide her fear from Jayce, she's afraid that if Jayce sees fear in her eyes he would take advantage of it.

Jayce remained quiet while Mae cleaned his wound. He was so drunk that he could not even sit properly.

"Sorry," he managed to apologize to Mae, Mae was quiet and looked at him.

"You're drunk. I understand, but next time please don't scare me like that," Mae said while putting an ointment on Jayce's hand.

"Did I scare you?" he asked.

"What do you think? I just left you for mere 15 minutes and you got drunk?! Then you went up to my room and you smashed a mirror, you expect me not to be scared?" she finally admitted.

"Sorry, I was just confused" he replied and leaned on Mae's shoulder, Mae sat still and listened to Jayce's deep breathing.

"It's late, let's go to sleep," she spoke and tapped his shoulder. He groggily stood up and almost fell. Mae managed to hold him but her robe opened exposing her beautiful naked body. She quickly tied the robe but Jayce was quicker...

He grabbed Mae and kissed her deeply and passionately... then it became deeper and hungrier. His hands moved inside the robe and he carried her then placed her on top of the bar counter.

Jayce's kisses went down to her neck, she let out a moan making Jayce kiss her more.

"Jayce..." Mae couldn't continue what she was saying as Jayce kept kissing her and she moaned with pleasure.

"Jayce... we ... we have to s... stop this" Mae managed to piece a sentence. Jayce didn't stop though, instead he kissed her longer and deeper, his hands navigated throughout her body.

"What are you afraid of?" He asked while fondling her breast and nibbling her ear.

"The prenup," she weakly said and tried to push Jayce, but Jayce was too strong.

"Screw the prenup, I want you... I want every inch of you" he said and kissed her more and carried her to the master's bedroom.

Jayce's self control was finally cut loose with Mae's approval.

That night, the couple finally shared an intimate night satisfying each other's desires as they traveled to the heavens.
