CHAPTER 17

Mae woke up from the dream, her heart was beating so fast.

"The hell," she muttered and opened her side lamp. This is not the first time she dreamed about that night. She feels annoyed by the fact that she met Jayce that time and she's now guilty as hell for telling him the events of that day.

After the commotion Alice did, the couple barely talked, they went home on different hours and they almost don't see each other.

He deserves to know the entire story right? Mae told herself while looking at the mirror. The only time she saw Jayce was the time he went home drunk... that was three days ago.

*BLAG*

She jolted when she heard something fell. She ran down the stairs and she saw Jayce in the mini bar, the bar stool beside him fell over. She propped up the bar stool and took the glass of whiskey from Jayce's hand. How could this guy drink again?! He's already drunk!!! She thought and put away the whiskey.

"You!" Jayce's voice was coarse and low, Mae looked at him and he looked like a wreck.

"H--how c-could y-you do thish to m--- me!" he drunkenly said and tried to move closer. Mae moved around the mini bar to keep distance from him.

"Jayce... your drunk," Mae calmly replied looking for a way out.

"So what if I'm drunk?! Huh?!" he said and threw the entire bottle of whiskey across the table, if Mae didn't duck, she would have been hit. The glass shattered behind her, she's literally shaking, and crawled to the opposite side of the table.

"Where do you think you're going?!" Jayce found her and pulled her up, his grip was too tight that it made Mae twitch in pain.

"Jayce, let me go," she pleaded Jayce but he didn't let go. He pushed her to the sofa and pinned her there.

"Please stop," Mae pleaded but Jayce wouldn't listen. He pinned her down and started kissing her torridly. Mae tried her best to set herself free from Jayce but it's no use, Jayce removed his shirt, Mae's heart was beating so fast she could almost hear it. He then held both her arms up and kissed her again.

"What? Don't you want it?" He said while removing Mae's shirt, Mae tried to stop him by pushing him away, but instead, Jayce got more excited, he ripped Mae's shirt apart exposing her body, Jayce proceeded to kiss her neck and fondled her breast, his other hand was already making it's way into her underwear.

Mae gasped when she felt Jayce pinch her inner thigh. Jayce smirked and kissed her again, deeper and hungrier than the last time. The beast inside Jayce was uncontrollable, Mae battled with her mind not to give in.

"Tell me Mae don't you want it?" he asked again, this time it was more seductive, the heat of his body made Mae want to say yes,

"This is not right Jayce..." she said in an almost whisper and tried to move away from Jayce, Jayce held her tighter, his half naked body was reflecting from the moonlight, Mae could see his chiseled abs, his sharp jawline and his dark brown eyes.

She looked straight at Jayce, he didn't move nor say a word...

"Am I not enough? Did I disappoint you the first time we did it?" Jayce asked, he loosened his grip and Mae felt Jayce's body tense like he suddenly felt insecure of his appearance. "Or was it because Alice toyed with me that you don't want me?" he said. He let out a sharp sigh.

"What are you talking about Jayce? No... that's not..." Mae saw Jayce in a vulnerable state, She decided to shut up...

Jayce just looked at Mae, his eyes glistened, tears started to flow from his eyes and it fell into Mae's cheeks.

"All these years I was left in the dark, not knowing what happened that day. I was scared that I may have done something terrible, but it turns out... I was the one violated!" he said while crying, Jayce fell on the ground and buried his face on his knees.

Mae understood that Jayce was just scared. Who wouldn't be? Three years ago, Alice lied to him and toyed with him, used him and threw him away. No wonder he's shattered. Mae took the blanket on the sofa and wrapped it around her and Jayce.

He continued crying and Mae just hugged him, he felt Mae's warmth and loosened his tense body,

"I'm sorry for scaring you," he whispered,

"Shhh, I understand," Mae replied. and scooted closer to Jayce, he lifted his head and met Mae's gaze.

"I was just scared, I didn't know what to do with my feelings, I... " he paused... "I was just so afraid that I'll be used again," he said and his body tensed again and bowed his head like he's dying from shame.

"It's okay... I'm here, I won't leave you, I promise," Mae said pulled him closer to her.

Jayce felt warmth and comfort with Mae, he never felt this way before, even with Alice. Mae is like his bubble of sunshine... he saw her as someone he can depend on. He finally admitted to himself that he is indeed in love with her.

"Thank you," he replied and hugged Mae. He leaned on her shoulder and drifted to sleep. Mae took a pillow and propped it behind her for support, she didn't want to wake Jayce up.

*****

Jayce woke up on the living room floor, Mae was no longer with him so he stood up, his head hurts from severe hangover...

"Mae..." he called out, the house was silent. He thought maybe he was dreaming.

"Good morning," Mae said while going down the stairs, she's already prepared to go to work. "Coffee?" she asked Jayce while pouring a cup of coffee.

Jayce came up to her and hugged her from behind, he was still topless.

"Hey hey hey! I'm going to work, you still smell like crap!" Mae said and looked at Jayce.

Jayce chuckled, "Sorry," he replied sarcastically, they sat opposite each other, Mae prepared hangover soup for Jayce,

"Mae..." he spoke after eating.

"Hmmm?" she looked at Jayce.

"Let's get married, for real." he said, Mae was shocked with what he said. Did she hear him clearly?
