In The Eyes Of Others

In a small country town in Australia, a family sat around the television.

[Channel 7 News: This is your news channel reporting live on the Kira problem. In recent times, Kira has, like the last time, been confirmed to be located in Japan. The Japanese government has partnered up with the US, Uk and Australia, and have reported that they are doing everything in their power to put an end to Kira's rise.]

"Hey mum, are we safe from Kira?" A sweet little voice asked out of curiosity.

Unlike Japan, Australia, while still affected by the rising cults, had for the most part been unaffected by their climb back to power. Some cults had been reported, but they were mainly based around the large coastal cities.

A second person, a mother, looked to what could be considered to be a father. With worry in her eyes.

The sweet voice was finally answered though by the girls' mother, "We will be fine, we live in a safe place so they can't hurt you, child. Come here it's time for bed."

The little girl got up from her comfortable position in front of the tv and held her mother's hand.

The mother put the girl in her bed and began singing a lullaby. Her voice could be described as a mothers voice, both calming and soothing.

"The evening is coming, the sun sinks to rest; The birds are all flying straight home to the nest. "Caw!" says the crow as he flies overhead, It's time little person, was going to bed. The flowers are closing, the daisy's asleep; The primrose is buried in slumber so deep..."

The girl slowly closed her eyes as the last thing she heard before complete darkness was her mothers' loving voice, slowly fading away.

....

The morning sunlight crept in through the cracks in the blinds of the house, giving warmth to a cool morning.

Slowly the girl's eyes opened followed by a long yawn. As she got up she stretched she let out another yawn.

It was the morning so she grabbed hold of her teddy bear and stood on her tippy toes to open her door.

Walking out from her room she could smell the scent of bacon accompanied by the crackling of fat.

*Thump*

The girls' teddy bear fell to the ground as she let out a scream which was quickly silenced by the butt end of a rifle.

On the floor lay a little girl beside her parents in a pool of blood. Standing over them a group of heavily armoured special force officers.

What she had seen would scar her for life. Never did she expect that her parents had been supporters of the Kira cult.

"Quickly pick her up and bring her with us," said what could be assumed to be the leader of the squad.

*Kusht*

the sound of a radio could be heard as one of the men squeezed the radio. "Targets eliminated"

....

In a small apartment two people, a boy and his father were kneeling on the floor.

"Daddy, you changed, haven't you? please don't let the bad man hurt you!" said the small boy with tears streaming down his face.

"Don't worry boy, there are too many people in this world for Kira to come after someone like me." The father replied as he pulled his son into a tight hug.

All over the world reformed criminals, we're terrified. Terrified of what might happen if Kira ever discovered their past. Most had families and people who they loved dearly. But that wasn't something that would matter to the God of Death.

The father and son stay still, continually hugging until the boy fell asleep.

"My dear boy... Lord, please give me another chance, see that my son needs me. I beg of you, he has a sickness which requires treatment and without me..." Tears began to hit the floor as the man carried his son to his room.

"Without me, in this cruel world, what will my son do?"

*Bang*

The sound of a body hitting the floor echoed throughout the small apartment. What followed was complete silence.

....

"It's my last day today. Finally, I will take back my freedom as a new man," said a Norwegian prisoner.

The prisoner walked through the hallways of the prison until finally reaching his closest friends cell.

Noticing that his friend stood at the door to the cell, the large and muscular prisoner sat up in his bed. "Brother, it's your last day in this shithole, hahaha."

The soon to be released prisoner walked into the cell and sat beside the man who had helped him survive the last four years of his life. "Soon you will be ready to apply for parole, when you get it, make sure to come to visit me and my wife."

"Of course I will, you're my closest friend after all. Sorry for getting soft, but I'm gonna miss you." the muscular prisoner said.

"Ahaha, shut up Tobias. You're such a huge softy." replied the smaller prisoner. With this, he got up and left the cell which his friend resided.

"I really am gonna miss him..."

*Thud*
