Please be a bit patient for the first volume i.e 69 chapters which might be a bit stale, the first 69 chapters are used to build the characters around Rei and himself.

Toujou Rei, a little boy obsessed with baseball, has always admired his father, Tensei. Wishing to follow in his father's footsteps, Rei dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. In turn, his son's starry-eyed admiration encourages Tensei to keep persevering despite issues, Unfortunately, Tensei dies while protecting Rei from a car accident, which leaves a mental scar on him making him unable to play his beloved baseball anymore, but after getting motivated more than ever, Rei works hard to carve his way in the baseball world by becoming one of the best baseball players as his dad wished.

Rei noticed that both Seiki and Tenko schools had arrived and went to the ground quickly. As he expected the teams already arrived and Rei noticed the coach talking with 2 others. He stood outside of the grounds as the coach asked them to not enter and only observe from outside. So, they can only see the game from outside.

Rei looked at the players practicing. He noticed there were several large players on Seiki's side. All of them had enough power behind swings to get a home run even when they practiced. Most of their stances were solid and looked like they refined their stances from an early age, only through practicing continuously.

Rei continued to look over the Seiki team and found their pitcher and catcher doing some normal warm-up. It looked like they only had a very mediocre pitcher and an even less catcher. Both of them were below his or Suzaku's level. Rei understood this team was too one-sided in terms of strength.
