Please be a bit patient for the first volume i.e 69 chapters which might be a bit stale, the first 69 chapters are used to build the characters around Rei and himself.

Toujou Rei, a little boy obsessed with baseball, has always admired his father, Tensei. Wishing to follow in his father's footsteps, Rei dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. In turn, his son's starry-eyed admiration encourages Tensei to keep persevering despite issues, Unfortunately, Tensei dies while protecting Rei from a car accident, which leaves a mental scar on him making him unable to play his beloved baseball anymore, but after getting motivated more than ever, Rei works hard to carve his way in the baseball world by becoming one of the best baseball players as his dad wished.

The Diamond Field

The batter made his way back into the dugout and Ren came up to the plate. He didn't look at Rei and concentrated on Takashi. Rei took a deep breath, trying to calm his mind. Rei asked at a low pitch. Ren didn't react and only let it pass through for a called strike.

Rei threw the ball back and asked for a pitch right near Ren's chest. Takashi threw the pitch and Ren was able to bring his bat down at the correct time. He connected, and the ball flew into the foul territory. With two strikes, Rei got a bit of confidence and sent out the slider symbol. Takashi nodded and Rei asked for the pitch at the corner.

Takashi took a deep breath and changed his grip behind his glove. Takashi threw it and Ren reacted to the ball, but the ball suddenly curved, catching Ren off guard, and it fell right into Rei's mitt for the third strike.
