I wake up in a dark room. It smells horrible, not something I could call well kept. I could see a faint light. I wobbled over to see it is a lit lantern. The light was bright, but it allowed me to see my surrounding. I look around to see that the room I was in had now windows, no furniture, dust and dirt everywhere and had a single door. I walked to the door. I don't remember how I got here, but I do remember being smacked hard. Was I kidnapped?
I quickly open the door. If I was kidnapped I had to get out of here quickly. Opening the door led me to a hallway. The hallway is long, six doors are on each side. I don't stop to investigate them, I run as quickly as I can down the hallway. The farther I run down the hallway, my body begins to feel woozy. It's as if the whole world is going to turn upside down. I collapse on the floor. The whole world begins to spin. I can't keep my eyes open, but every time I open them I see a mysterious shadow getting closer to me. I don't get a good look at it, then the whole world goes black.
I wake up again. This time a different room. After looking around I can see that I am in a library. The shelves are full of books by authors I have never heard of. I don't look at them, instead I try to find an exit. The library is well lit, so I find a door easily. I try to open the door, but its locked. I need a key.
I have a gut feeling there might be a key in here. I search the library for what felt like hours, but cannot find a key. In a fit of rage, I smack on of the bookshelves. It makes a clicking sound and begins to swing wide open. A secret tunnel presents itself to me. I am afraid to walk down it. The tunnel is dark and I don't have my lantern to help guide me.
I don't have much time to question whether or not to go down the tunnel. A roar echoes from one side of the library. It sounds scary and dangerous. The library is too well lit to hide me, but the dark tunnel might. I enter the tunnel hoping to find safety there.
I walk down the tunnel for a while until it leads me into another room. Tables and chairs fill it, but there is no food on them. The candles on each table help me see. Walking around the room, I see another door. I go to it, but it is locked as well. However, I look down to see a key in front of the door. Whoever lives here must have dropped it by accident. I pick it up, but then a roar ripples through the room. I turn around to see a beast standing in the middle of the room.
The beast is a thing of nightmares. It looks human, but it's not. Two ram horns are on its head, its eyes are bloodshot, and scars cover its naked body. However, the most terrifying thing about the beast is its hands and mouth. I wouldn't say it really had hands, they were mangled with six saber claws on each one. The mouth was a long jaw with razor sharp teeth. They made a smile, but I could feel that it was not smiling at me.
The beast stared at me. I thought I was dead, but with a blink it disappeared. Am I imagining things? The terror of being in unknown place must be frightening to my mind. Once my head is clear I use the key to open the door. It leads outside. I look around to see I am standing in a wooded area. I turn around to see the building that held me, but there is nothing. I only see a mound. I realize that I was being held underground. I don't think too much about it, I need to find a road.
When I turn around the beast is standing in front of me. I fall down in fright. The beast stands over me. There is no emotion in its face. It stares at me for a while, then pounces on me. The world goes dark.
I wake up again, in another dark room. I thought I was dead, but whatever that thing was brought me back to the underground lair. I give out a scream. I just want this nightmare to be over. I want to go home.
I calm down and try to find a door, but there is none. I touch every part of the wall hoping I didn't miss it. Tears roll down my face. I can't escape, I am prisoner to whatever is holding me.
Then I hear a click. I try to find the noise. My search leads me to falling down a hole. The drop was short, and thankfully I landed on something soft. I don't know what it is because too dark to tell. I get to my feet and kick something. It is a flashlight. I turn on revealing that I am in a tomb. Stone caskets are everywhere. I freak out, then stumble backwards into what I landed on. I turn around to see it is a pile of dead bodies. I don't scream and turn the flashlight off. Whatever made that pile might be around and add me to it. I need to get out.
I turn on my flashlight, but cover it with my hands so that the light is bright enough to let me see, but dim enough to not give away my position. I walk slowly through the tomb. It's quiet, dead silent as those who are buried in it. I feel like I have walking for ages. Maybe I got lost, but then I see a door in the distance. I remove my hand off the flashlight and shine it to see if anything is up ahead. Nothing is there. I quickly cover it to hide my presence. I walk toward the door. Suddenly I hear the clanging of metal. I walk faster, but the clanging getting louder and closer. I am in full panic. I rush toward the door. I open it and shut it not looking back.
Once I calm down I see the new room I am in. It is a medical office. There is blood everywhere. On the wall. On the tables. On the floor. On the tools. Blood of those who were possibly tortured and put in the tomb behind me. I see another door and exit the medical office without stopping to look around.
Exiting the medical office leads me in to a hallway. It has a wooden wall, with a red rug and creepy painting plaster all over the halls. I don't know which was to go and decided to turn left. This leads me to a cross roads. I decided to continue to go straight. Walking down the creepy hallway leads me to a big golden door. I open it to enter another room.
The room is dark, so I flash my flashlight on it. It reveals a stairway. However, the light reveals some objects above me. I look up and see hanged bodies. The ropes killed them a long time ago, but each one had a smiling face with gouged eyes out. I know they weren't actually looking at me, but I knew they were put in that position to give anyone who walked into this room fright. I wanted to scream, but didn't. I just walked to the stairs, trying to not thing about them.
The stair way leads me to another door. I open it and enter outside again. This time I am in a field with a few trees surrounding me. The dungeon I was held in must be enormous. I don't care, I am free once again.
That freedom doesn't last long. I take a few steps to hear some grunting behind me. I turn around to see the beast standing near me. It runs at me, but doesn't attack me, instead it circles me. I try to walk, but it swipes it claws to prevent me from moving.
This can't be happening me. The last time it attacked me I ended up back up in the dungeon. Why! Why! I was so close to freedom. Why did this thing have to appear?
Fear and agony take hold of me "What are you?"
The beast doesn't answer me. It stops circling me and stand in front me. It wants to attack me, but is restraining itself.
"Please just let me go." I say begging. "I don't know what you want with me, but I promise not to tell anyone about this place."
The beast says nothing then disappears. I don't question it. I just run as fast as I can. The trees disappear and the grass in the field begins to get taller and taller, getting up to my hips. I look at the sky to see that I must be the late afternoon. Night will be soon. I need to find a road before it turns to dark to see.
Running through the tall grass tires me out. However, I move with whatever energy I have left. It is so peaceful out in this field. If I was not in danger I would love to be out here. I walk/jog more but darkness enters the sky. I still have my flashlight, but I don't know if that beast if following me. I just keep moving. I feel sleepy, but I don't fall asleep. The fear of closing my eyes and ending up captive in the dungeon again runs deep in my mind.
So much grass. Where am I? How far is the nearest form of human life to me? Who captured me? What is that beast? Who were the victims hanging and in the tomb? Who does the tomb and dungeon belong to? Will, I ever go home? These things run through my mind as I march through the dark field. It is so peaceful in this darkness. I can see so many stars in the sky. I feel so small when I look up at them.
Night turns into day. I feel exhausted. I don't know how long I have been moving for, but I am still in an open field. However, the tall grass becomes short again. Not that will help me I don't know I have any energy to run. I exit the tall grass, but something makes make stand up. I turn around and see the beast in the distance charging after.
Panic sets in. Even if I have little energy left, I use what have to run away as fast as I can go. It's not enough. I can feel the beast getting closer, until I can hear it footsteps get louder as it is only a few feet behind me. I put in one final kick, but that is enough. It swipes at my leg tripping me. I land on my back. I look up to see it top of me. It pins me to ground, its claws and feet preventing me from struggling. It stares at me coldly not giving away sign of what it will do next, but I know it is going to kill me soon.
Then the beast picks me up and tosses me. I get up and try to run away, but it jumps in front of me. It brandishes its claws, playing with me. I don't know what to do. Never in my life have I felt so vulnerable where my life can end at any minute.
"Please leave me alone." I yell, tears flooding my face.
The beast does not respond. It just moves back and forth making it hard for me to escape.
"What are you?" I say.
The beast roars into the air. It covers its face with one of is mangled hands. I blink and the beast turn into me. I am just smiling sinisterly at me. What is going on. The beast must be playing tricks on me. Then me attacks me pinning me to the ground. I whimper, and the beast me grins sinisterly. Me strokes my terrified body, then transforms back into the regular beast. Its mouth is wide open, but it doesn't take a bite.
I don't know where I found the strength, but I push the beast off of me with all of my might. Once it is off, I rush off. The beast pursues me and quickly catches. It stabs me with its claw. I fall to the ground blood oozing out of my body. I look up to see the beast standing above me.
"Why are you doing this." I say blood gurgling in my mouth.
"Are you me, or a part of me?"
The beast says nothing.
"Please let me—*cough*—go." I beg.
The beast licks its blood claw and walks back and forth. As it does it transforms into me and back into its beastly form. Why is it doing that. Was that its way of killing it prey. Use psychological warfare to wear it down, then go for the kill.
"Please don't kill me, I have loved ones to see." I say.
The beast turns around and runs up to me. It looks me in the eyes and says "Good, we'll come for them next."
No words come to my mouth. We. What does that me. More importantly people I know will suffer the way I am once I die. I try to fight back, but the loss of blood saps my strength.
The world begins to go dark. The beast opens its mouth, ready to take a bite. As its jaws come shut life goes dark to nothingness.
