Discipline, Weakness and Spies? (1)

(A/N: This will be the longest arc so please be patient with it or you can ignore it and read it at one go when the final part arrives.

PS.

I hope it won't disappoint you.)

The meeting with the Councilmen and ministers went slow but ended quickly. Who knew that Omar's absence would make a meeting much shorter but perfectly productive.

His incompetence was now clear and looking at the results no one in the council dared to criticize his decision.

Everyone stole glances at Lucifer and Bollocks from time to time but said nothing.

When Lucifer was done reading the stack of papers presented to him he turned to the council and asked. "How are humans reacting to their employment," For some weird reason, Employment sounded Sarcastic.

"They are unhappy but they aren't refusing our commands." a councilman conservatively answered.

Lucifer noticed his conservativeness but decided to ignore it and focus on the matter in his hand.

"What is the status on the direct route to the Holy Kingdom?" He asked.

"There isn't any progress at all. Humans are still refusing to work unless the safety of their family is confirmed." The Minister of construction answered his question.

'What is wrong with those humans? They should have started working by now, Isn't Rava doing anything.' He thought to himself.

"And how is Rava reacting to it?" he asked.

"Rava hasn't left his castle and it seems like he isn't planning to do anything at all."

"I guess a visit to the holy kingdom is in order."

After a short pause, the councilman answered, "Understood."

"Now about the new name for the Holy Kingdom."

"We came up with some names but it will take some time before we can present them to you." He tried to keep his voice straight.

"Make the decision quicker, before the road is completed."

"Yes, Understood my lord."

They went and talked on many more topics before they came to an end.

"Is there anything else that we need to discuss," Lucifer confirmed with Gina.

Gina looked at her notepad and replied, "There is the topic of elves protesting in the holy kingdom's newly formed army."

"Don't worry about it I am personally going to examine that matter. Anything else?"

Gina flipped the page a few times, "That was everything, My Lord."

"If that is the case then," he stood from his chair, "Good Day demons I will be taking my leave now and have the names ready by our next meeting. We will finalize it on a later date."

Saying that Lucifer left along with Bollock and Gina.

...

Lindon was an elven soldier before he was forcefully conscripted into the demons army but he never liked his country considering the class system that forced him into a soldier.

He came from the elven hierarchy class called Youdh, which meant that his only career options were either to be a gate guard or a foot soldier. He chose the latter because of the higher payment.

Just like him, his father was also a foot soldier in the elven army, who died in the war against the former demon king's army.

He hated the demon army for killing his father but what he hated more was the fact, which he believed for a long time, that his father died because he was issued lowgrade arms and armors.

On his years as a soldier, he had the chance of meeting many incompetent higher-ups who were an insult to those titles but were provided with the best equipment and magic items.

His father was clearly a superior warrior than many of his superiors but still, he was a mere foot soldier.

As a soldier, Lindon had the chance to meet his father's superior. What he saw wasn't a captain worthy of his men's loyalty but a possie that was only in his position because he was born into a family with a better background.

He did some research of his own and he came to the conclusion that his father's death was a coincidence.

His only guess was that some higher-up was jealous of his father's prowess and wanted to remove him. He had no evidence to support his theory but in his mind, there was no other option.

A few years after his father's death, his mother died which made him an orphan at a young age of 16.

Elves are a race that matures differently from humans and Lindon was orphaned at the age of 8 elven years.

For an 8-year-old orphan born into the elven class Youdh, the world is not a great place. He had to do anything to survive in this word.

He started manipulating others in the orphanage and took advantage of them that way he can always reap fruits but never be the one who is punished.

He used his manipulating ability many times in the army and he would disguise himself as someone else and take their salary. When he was confronted he would smoothly put the blames on others.

He was never punished which lead him into being overconfident on his ability.

When his country decided to surrender to the demon king, Lindon was forced to retire and was exiled to the holy kingdom.

As expected from a country that had lost a great war, food was scarce. Those who had food refused to share it which led to Lindon stealing it from them.

Lindon was smart and he would never steal in a large amount but he would steal from many places. This worked and he was never caught.

Nobody likes thieves when people figured out Lindon was stealing from them, they attacked him.

He used his ex-soldier skills to fight them off which was noticed by the patrolling demons and he was conscripted into the army.

For a starving elf like him, the demon army wasn't a bad place.

He received three meals a day and necessary supplies like army-issued clothes, armor, and arms. His life wasn't bad at all but it didn't get any better either.

Except for the fact, that he will be fighting elves, humans and other nondemonic races without salary nothing was changed.

He found that many other elves were also captured by the demons. Unlike him, these elves were higher class elves called the Rogu.

Youdh mostly comprised of mere foot soldiers but Rogu included high position elves like commanders, superintendents, and low nobles.

These elves were displeased with how they were treated but they were also cowards.

It didn't take a long time for Lindon to manipulate them to start a revolt. If his plan worked then elves would get better treatment and if it didn't then he was never a part of them.

If it succeeds he would also reap the benefits but if it failed he won't be subjected to any punishment, a perfect situation for Lindor.

He laughed at those elves from sidelines.

...

Lindor walked near the gates of the closed training area and rested near the wall. This has become his daily routine and the guards didn't chase him away because Lindon would regularly leave after 15 minutes.

These 15 minutes were his best chance where he would eavesdrop on the guards. For now, this was his only medium to gather knowledge about the outside world.

Lindon was a talented man and he had an innate talent that allowed him to learn from other's conversations. This was the same way he figured out that his father died wasn't a coincidence.

"Did you know that General Bollock will be visiting this army tomorrow?" The first guard spoke. Unaware of the fact that Lindon was listening.

"It must be because of the elven revolt right." The Second guard added.

'So they are sending someone to handle this but it sounds like the results won't be in my favor.' He stood up and prepared to leave but stopped.

"I heard he almost killed a Councilman."

"Is that true?"

"I don't know but this news reached to me through some personal guards."

"Do you mean the councilman's guards?"

The guard used his hand to cover his mouth and the other guard understood his reason and bought his ear close to him.

Lindon was smart he didn't need to listen to anything to understand what his answer was.

A smile crept into his face, even if he combined all the money he had earned till now it can never amount equal to a piece of information like this.

'This explains everything' He thought to himself, 'Them recruiting so many non-demonic races into their army and workforce. Why wasn't it clear to me before?' ... 'The Demon Kingdom is suffering because of heavy loss in population.'

Lindon can't stop smiling, he can already guess who was the demon that Bollock beat up and reason for that.

'Now I only need to act as a negotiator and talk to Bollock as a representative. If I do this correctly then I can clearly use my position as an elf to my advantage.'

"Hey, you weirdly smiling elf." One of the guards shouted.

Lindon recognized that he had overstayed his welcome and decided to leave.

"I am sorry I was just lost in my thought." Saying that he left the two guards and went to the barracks.

'I should also search for some foreign spies. It won't hurt me to have more than one advantage."
