A few hours of intense gaming later, Boops and Jason emerged from the gaming room, with tiered faces. The two of them had just been playing a fighter game nonstop to pass the time and to beat each other. It seems Boops without even having hands was able to control the games somehow. And yeah Jason got destroyed in his own brain space by a glowing orb. Jason could hear Boops muttering to himself constantly
'heh get destroyed noob'
As he somehow pulled off a 360 no scope in a fricking turn-based game. Like that should even be possible but suddenly Boops started to scream stuff like
'MLG, yolo', and more, and then his gaming skills got much better, beating Jason even though he should have had a very high-level skill thanks to his level 10 gaming skill.
Well, the entire thing was a game, and even though the aura of the two when they were playing games were like two best friends reuniting to play some games. When the excited the room they both got into business mode.
Boops pulled up a chart full of long data and started to crunch the numbers like a manic. And Jason started to organize his system points that had been building up. Along with checking with weapons would be available to merge with his iron sword for extra properties, and while Jason was at it, he also looked at his stats.
His strength stamina and agility were skyrocketing, they were even going up in real-time because of how hard the Blue 2 team was training him.
Oh and while he was gaming his agility stat passed 25 and he gained a bonus, but when he got it he was to busy screaming at Boops to not use the finisher move on him.
[congraduatlions your agility stat has passed 25!]
[you have gained a bonus title (swift feet)]
[swift feet: movement speed increased by 10%]
Jason pulled up his stat sheet.
[Jason Archer]
[Age: 15]
[male]
[level: 46]
[Stats]
[strength 24]
[stamina 24]
[agility 26]
[intelligence 21]
[wisdom 17]
[charm 56]
[status: healthy]
Jason looked at his charm stat and said to himself
"yeah it might be a bit too high right now, and it's still kinda useless"
Boops called out to him from across the white room
'it hit you just now?'
Jason laughed a bit and returned to looking back at the stat sheet. Most of his stats even including the ones that had to do with mana had increased. Thanks to Charlie's magic swordsman technique he was able to train the mana manipulation skill ability. It was weird how he didn't get a skill like Shunpo when learning that technique, maybe there was more to that skill then he knew, but what Jason did know was that it was an excellent way for him to train his mana manipulation skill.
So far this "hell week" as Lyle called it was doing a large toll on Jason, he felt more like a puppet doing whatever then actually thinking. Jason looked over at Boops who was busy documenting the stats of his subordinates and seeing which class they matched up to best. That break it seemed was good for both of them. Jason remembered Boops lifelessly floating around before and compared to the Boops now, who was beaming radiantly and zipping around getting stuff done, it was a huge improvement.
Jason noted to himself that he needed to take breaks since he never wanted to get into that weird tired mindset again. Plus he had the rest of Hell week to go through so it was definitely going to hurt.
Boops shouted to Jason as Jason was stuck in his thoughts
'Hey Jay, ya got to head out soon, it's almost morning and your next trainer should come out soon'
Jason nodded and closed his eyes. He reopened them to see the sky in a hazy blue. Well, he could only glimpse at the sky briefly as the wave of fatigue hit him hard. Jason dropped to the floor and proceeded to make dying noises.
Wait, actually, Jason felt his arms and legs quickly. He got up on his knees and flapped his arms in confusion. He actually wasn't that tired. Like he currently felt like he just ran a marathon, but he could still move his body, which was a plus. Jason countied flapping his arms in confusion. He should have been completely exhausted like the last few nights. What the frick happ..... ohhh it was the stat points wasn't it.
Jason's arms weren't the most exhausted part of his body though it was his legs from all of those sprints Lyle made him do. His legs were shaking under him, but at least he could feel them this time.
Jason rolled over to sit on his butt. He might as well take a few minutes to recover a bit. And thanks to his decently high stamina stat, his recovery rate was pretty fast. So Jason sat their a for a few minutes just staring at the dark blue sky, that was slowly getting lighter and lighter.
It seems the birds were much more accurate at telling the time then Boops because the moment the sun fully made its entrance, Jason could see and hear numerous birds burst into song. Most of them chirped away in an annoying manner that made Jason's alright lightheaded mind spin. But others made soft harmonies with each other creating a wonderful symphony that only the attentive ear could hear over the endless chirping the rest of the birds were making.
And it seems Jason wasn't the only one who heard the musical symphony. 2 figures also listened to the music. One opened her window in the mansion in her signature red dress with an expensive wand on her waist and listened quietly, while the 2nd figure stood right behind Jason without a noise, just gazing into the sky and enjoying it.
That figure softly said to himself,
"beautiful"
But since he was right behind Jason, Jason could easily hear it and he jumped up in fright and tried to land on his feet. But his feet were so weak that he immediately collapsed when he put weight on them like a newborn calf.
Jason looked up to see the 2nd figure dressed in typical rangers garb, with sleek dark leather covering almost every part of his body and all types of equipment strapped to his body with various metal buckles that shone in the morning sun. He had a hood behind his head, that Jason could briefly see had the color green on it.
Ardem looked at Jason and softly said
"up"
Jason did as told and tried his best to get up. Ardem who noticed Jason's struggle tossed him a familiar vial filled with red liquid. Jason didn't even need Ardem to explain,(he probably wouldn't have explained anyways.) Jason chugged the entire bottle down and felt the energy that seeped into his body and refreshed it.
After a few minutes of awkward waiting, Jason sprung up refreshed. Ardem then started to walk off into the field, and Jason followed until they were at the very edge of the field where the forest had started to take over the ground.
Ardem looked at Jason and started to talk in his signature one word phases
"3rd form. agility, defense"
Ardem pulled out two metal daggers and pointed to Jason with one
"show, attack"
Boops whispered to Jason in a hushed tone
'he means the 2rd form is agility and defense molded together and that he wants to show you i t making you attack him'
"yeah, i know I'm not an idiot"
'but i think I needed it just in case you were clueless you know'
Jason wanted to retort, but Ardem was waiting for him, so he put aside Boops's thought for later and gripped his iron sword again and ran toward Ardem. As he ran his body almost acted on instinct. He had run and done the second form so many times that he almost did it without noticing, well he was planning to do that anyway.
Jason pretended to run toward Ardem and did a quick juke that should have caught him off guard and then planted his feet into the ground to burst to the other side of Ardem. Jason pulled back his sword for a ferocious thrust.
To be honest, Jason expected his thrust to be stopped at that point, he had been destroyed so many times that he even started to get used to the pattern of getting his butt whopped. But nothing was stopping his thus and he could see Ardem's body turning towards where he had pretended to jump to.
Jason grinned to himself slightly. He gave himself hope and pushed even harder with his sword. Jason didn't even think about how he might accidentally hurt Ardem, and just let his thrust carry him into Ardems body.
And then Ardems body disappeared along with Jason's sword. And the next thing Jason knew his very own sword was in Ardems left hand while in his right was a dagger that was placed on Jason's neck.
It would have been bearable since things like this happened all of the time, but it didn't help that Boops was laughing up a storm at how Jason actually thought he could beat Ardem.
