Elfven Lore

Arjuna stretched as he got up from the bed that he was sitting one. The elven girl Alanis was still sitting on the floor as she talked to Arjuna about everything she knew about the Nightfall archer class.

It had been a few hours, but Arjuna had learned almost everything she knew about the nightfall Archer.

In a few words, the Nightfall Archer was a class famous for its long-ranged and quick killing abilities. It had elements of a thief (sneak) skill, the killing ability of an assassin's behead skill, and much more. They thrived in the darkness and were almost always seen with a distinct uniform, sadly the uniform was never stated in the elfish documents but it was known to bring terror to any person who saw it. Nightfall archers in their uniforms were almost never seen in the daylight according to the ancient texts.

They were like the silent protectors of the elvish people. The hunters of those who threatened elvish peace. During the great tribulation, nightfall archers were exclusively elfish. But later when civilizations started to rebuild themselves the Nightfall Archers started to let a select few into their ranks.

That was a few thousand years ago, and the Nightfall Archers had started to disappear from the public eye. Even the elfish country Aanora didn't hear any news about the Nightfall Archers when the treaty of races was signed.

To the rest of the world, the Nightfall archers became a legend, a tale made by the elves to give them the belief that somebody or something protected them. Some of the elves started to believe that too. But there was always a portion of the elvish population that truly believed in their hearts that their guardians were silently watching over them, ready to emerge when the elfish nation Aanora needed them most.

Alanis smilled as she talked about the Nightfall Archers or more specifically the gnome Nightfall Archers.

She stated that the gnomes race had a very good relationship with the elves as the elves were beings that lived with nature and plants, while the gnomes were beings that had lived in the earth.

Earth and Nature both elements had good synergy with each other and naturally, the races that had a close affinity with those elements would too. In fact, they actually covered each other's weaknesses as a race.

The gnomes were master inventors creating crazy contraptions helping the elves who had been stuck in the past and old methods without trying to progress their technology.

Meanwhile, the gnomes suffered under their short and weak statures. Some were able to overcome their race limitations but most of the time gnomes were only able to become long ranger fighters like archers or wizards. The elves were much stronger than the gnomes and were able to provide manpower and strenght even though they had a slow birth rate. The many years of training each elven warrior had usually made up for it.

So the two races built each other up in a relationship of cooperation and unity. And a sign for that was to let a group of gnomes join the Nightfall archers. One of the elves' most prestigious groups.

That honor of being a Nightfall Archer was passed down from generation to generation along with the skills, drive, and passion that came with it.

With the birth of gnome Nightfall Archers and elvish mechanical engineers, fresh talent and jobs were brought to both of the races allowing them to resist the human-dominated continent such as the two empires that mostly comprised of humans.

The Lion empires was an empire that advocated human supremacy while the Nightshade empire mostly had the same ideals but they had with a small group that wanted to co-exist with the other races.

The two races were able to form countries and their relationship was still able to stay strong, though with the sudden disappearance of the Nightfall Archers and the Elvish Mechanical Engineers cracks have started to grow.

When Arjuna asked how Alanis knew about the Nightfall Archers she smilled and answered with a distant smile

"He saved my life once, he probably doesn't remember the little elvish girl that he saved when the orcs attacked. But that shadowy attire... I can't describe it but I instantly knew when I saw it that he was a Nightfall Archer."

She quietly laughed to herself as her golden hair fell off of her shoulders and her various green plant ornaments on her clothes glinted in the sunlight.

"I chased after him, I don't know how I was able to catch up to him, but I managed to jump onto his leg while pleading for him to teach me"

She pulled out a beautiful elvish bow. It was made out of white wood. Similar to birch but much more clean and strong. Towards the middle of the bow where the handle was a dark green engraving was carved in. Arjuna didn't really know what the engraving was, but it looked like the branches of a plant with a few leaves here and there along with intertwining branches everywhere.

"He shook me off and I was able to catch of glimpse of his face as he looked up. He had a stern face on like he was annoyed at more or something. But as I kept on begging even to the point of crying, he eventually sighed to himself and picked me up."

Alanis smilled to her self and twirled around her bow with her fingers.

"ill never forget what he said, he told me that if I wanted to become a nightfall Archer I needed to prove myself. To become strong with the bow and a true ranger. Then he said, I could journey to the Nightshade empire to find him. And well, Master Sninkkaakac is the only master gnome archer known here. He definitely won't be in the center of the empire where those human supremacist nobles live in. And besides no gnome would want to go out of their underground caves unless they had a good reason to stay out."

Alanis ended with a refreshing smile

"and where else would a Nightfall Archer be? to watch over the potential enemies to make sure they don't attempt to attack us"

Arjuna paced around the room. His dark hair swayed as he walked and his fair skin seemed like literal pearls. He looked at Alanis in the eye and asked her

"so you want to become a Nightfall Archer then huh?"

Alanis was temporarily stunned at Arjuna's pricing gaze. His brown eyes seemed to have so much more depth than she had originally thought. She nodded and answered

"yes I want to become a Nightfall Archer, its been a goal of mine since I was young"

Arjuna nodded as if confirming something. He stopped as if he was talking to somebody in his head. And after a few minutes of what Alanis thought was heavy thinking he sighed and said to her.

"well, I want to become a Nightfall Archer as well, so guess we are rivals then"

Alanis looked at Arjuna with complete surprise she tried to speak but the only thing that came out of her mouth was

"wha wha whaa what?"

Arjuna grabbed a bag that was hanging behind the door and strapped to his waist, he walked over to the bedside where he had a few daggers that were hidden between the wall and the bed. He quickly grabbed them and tucked them into a small hoster that he had underneath his unassuming clothes. He looked back at Alanis and smilled a charming smile

"Yup, I'm going to become a Nightfall Archer"

Arjuna then walked out of the door, with his bow strapped to his back and his quiver also slung on his left shoulder.

Alanis quickly jumped up and tucked back up her hood so that nobody could see her face again. She ran after Arjuna while saying in a hurried voice after Arjuna

"wait, wait, wait, you're a human right? it's impossible for you to become one!"

Arjuna turned around one more time and answered

"there's a first for everything"

Alanis was quickly silenced as she started to think about what Arjuna had said. She followed after Arjuna in silence. Arjuna noticed that she was following him and he turned back to her again and asked

"are you going to join me? if so help me gather some herbs, its a pain in the butt to collect"

Alanis stopped and looked at Arjuna as he asked that, somehow, the lazy way he said that and the nonchalant gaze and aura that he exuded hit a chord in her heart. Maybe it was because she had never been able to experience a time where she was able to take a break and take things easy. But something told her to follow that person. This human boy, who was handsome as frick, but lazy at the same time. A person who aspired to be the impossible and it would seem from what Alanis had seen, he was talented enough to try.

She answered

"yeah I'm coming"

And as she said, that she felt like a burden was lifted off of her like she wasn't alone. Well if he was right then they were going to be rivals so she shouldn't be too comfortable with him.

But who knows, perhaps this was a destined person like what her mom had said.
