A bright light suddenly shone in the town square of a village. The bright light gave off red and green colors a small hint of grey was also mixed in.
From that light, a figure stepped out. It was a normal human male around 16- 18 years old. He had a regular body, brown hair, and brown eyes.
He had a shoddy spear strapped to his back and the most basic leather amour possible.
A floating name on top of his head signified that he was a player. Currently, his name was grey, standing for natural since he didn't do anything in WOW. His in-game name was Rory.
Rory stood in his spawn point, looking around carefully, he felt the ground and smelled their air, after checking his surroundings one more time he threw his hands up in celebration.
"yesssss finally im in WOW!"
He had selected the Belusian kingdom to spawn in when he got the notification to chose where he went. He chose the three streams village mostly because of its location, near a city, and also close to the wilderness where monsters would probably spawn and ideal location for him to grind.
Rory checked his inventory and status, he was level 15 and a spearmen class. He wiped away a tear as he thought about the struggles of the beginner village. Even the top class players struggled to get used to the WOW system. No matter how good they were at pressing keys or how fast they could move their mouse. In this game, it would feel like they were actually moving their bodies. In return, their bodies almost couldn't distinguish this world from reality.
This almost caused some issues in certain counties after they heard about it, fearing that this game would become the source of some heinous things and undermine their influence along with concerns over the capsule and if it was okay for a person to lay down in one for so long.
But thankfully the MH company was able to smooth things out how they did that was unknown all that was know was that the governments almost simultaneously released a statement that the game was morally and legally fit to play. The MH company also had a statement to the public, explaining that they had an A.I system called G.A.I.A who governed the entire world of WOW and made sure it ran smoothly.
Even if the game WOW was run by crappy people, many people would still play it, it was that groundbreaking. No more clunky VR sets with thousands of wires and controls. Instead, they could now just lay down and connect to the world of WOW as if they were dreaming.
Even if the game was only the beginner's village it would have been a huge hit. But it had an additional entire world to come with it!
Most of the regular players spent a few weeks in the beginner's village just getting used to moving around and fighting. Most of the players treated WOW like a game and couldn't get used to the fact that it worked like reality with pain even being an option. (though it was heavily cautioned if the player wanted to use it).
Rory shed a few tears for Jeff the shopkeeper and Macy the innkeeper two of the NPCs friends he made in the beginner's village.
For some reason though, they somehow knew that he was departing from the village and gifted him with a few things, one of them was a lunch box that was currently in his inventory, and the other the spear strapped onto his back. Jeff had mentioned that he had used the spear back when he was an adventurer and after Rory had checked it, he saw that there was a small chance for a critical hit!
Unlike other games, buffs, and blessings on gear was very rare in WOW, Rory remembered seeing people fight over a rare drop that could buff their weapons.
But that was all in the past, Rory proudly walked out of the village square taking in all of the surroundings.
True to its name, 3 streams ran through the village 2 on the other perimeter and the last one gently cutting through the middle.
Numerous bridges were constructed over it and Rory could see villagers crossing over it every now and then.
Rory remembered seeing screenshots of the world of WOW. They were mostly taken by the experts who had already reached the world and were now discovering and pioneering the world. They were all still low leveled but all of them said the same thing about the game.
That it was the best game they had even played.
If Jason were there he would have agreed. Sometimes he got lost in the scenery and would gaze at it for a few moments.
Rory walked across one of the bridges looking for anything to do in the village.
One of the tips that came from a highly respected expert in WOW that went by (gentle stream) was that the players needed to find opportunities and quests on their own, and most importantly to treat the NPCs with respect.
Rory learned that first hand when he tried to talk to the village chief thinking that he would just be given a quest and be sent on his way. Instead, he got a fist in the face for trespassing on the village chief's house.
But now Rory had learned to treat the NPCs like humans and he was surprised as to how life like they acted. Even when they didn't see him they engaged in regular conversation with other NPCs, each had their own backstory though it would take a high friendship level to learn it.
Rory stopped at a bridge and hopped onto the side of one sitting on the edge and staring at the stream as it moved through the village.
The sun was high in the sky, giving Rory a soaring feeling. He was one of those people who played games to enjoy the magnificent view of it. And what was a better place than this game?
Of course, all things had to stop, and in this case, it was a loud one. Before Rory could befriend any villager, a loud bell started to toll along with a loud voice yelling out
"Goblins, get to your homes!"
Panic ensued in the three streams village as all of the villagers scrambled to their homes genuine fear and terror on their faces.
Rory looked in confusion as various villager men rushed out holding clubs, rakes, and hoes. They all had determined expressions on their faces, the faces of people determined to protect their families and they all rushed to where shouts of alarm and fear were coming from.
One of the villagers as he was running across spotted Rory sitting on a bridge looking confused he saw the spear on his back and shouted at him.
"hey you, what are you doing? aren't you going to help us defend?"
[new mission]
[the three streams village is under attack! assist the villager men in defending their homes!]
[rank:D]
[rewards: 2000 exp +affinity with villagers of three-stream village affinity with the village chief +1 silver]
Rory looked at the rewards with surprise it had taken his so long to get enough copper coins in the beginner's village and how he was getting a silver offered for one quest?
Rory never slammed harder on the "yes" button in his life and he quickly chased after the village men. He had a grin on his face thinking about how much money he could get from the silver, some many people were shouting about buying silvers in the beginner's village, imaging how much money he would get if he sold an entire silver!
Rory sprinted to where the clamor was only to spot, the green goblins rushing down at a tremendous speed, and he thought the horned rabbits were fast!
Rory checked the goblins level and his grin instantly was wiped off.
[goblin level 20]
[goblin level 21]
[goblin level 22]
They were 5 or 6 levels higher than him! In other games, it would almost be negligible but in WOW a difference in more than 5 levels meant that they could kick your but while having a casual conversation on the side. Again Rory knew this first hand.
Rory trembled as he held his spear out as the 30 or so goblins ran towards him and the other village men.
Suddenly like a fast gust of wind. A falcon swept onto one of the goblins ripping it into shreds with its talons and beak. The goblin roared in pain but a dagger sliced its thought and it fell down dead.
Wolves broke from the surrounding foliage and jumped onto the goblins.
And from the plains rose a large group of people. A rose flag was held high in the front of them.
And there was one person that caught his eye, it was a person wearing an iron helmet and an iron chest plate he held a regular iron sword. Yet he had a name hovering over his head.
Rory looked at the name closely and was able to finally read it.
It was Arch.
