I'm a Mercenary?

*Hours Later*

Sam was now standing in front of a medium-sized house that a good amount of land around it. Apparently, Nick lived here with his childhood friend and I'm been invited to stay here until I get enough money to get my own place. Somehow Nick owns his own enterprise just below another company that specializes in Dust and another that works for Atlas.

He invited me to be apart of his company's Mercenary group. I accepted, of course, and that's how I found a way out of my homeless pandemic. The inside of NIck's house was quite roomy. The first floor was open and seemed to be the hangout area of the house. The second floor had a few rooms that were being used as what seemed to be Nick's room and an office then a matching set of rooms for another person. When we arrived at the third floor it was a bit small compared to the other floors, but it was entirely open. Quite clean too, as if someone with no life cleaned it.

Nick: "And Here we are! This place will be your room for the next... Who knows."

Sam: "If I somehow end up staying, I'll make sure to do my part of helping around."

Nick: "Don't get your hopes up. You still haven't met your last housemate."

Sam: "Since it's 'last' housemate, then that means I'm living with my new boss?"

Nick: "Yeah... but that doesn't matter right now as I still haven't gotten you into the system to be paid or really anything."

Sam: "As long I'm not living in the streets and being fed. I think I can wait to be paid."

Nick: "That fixes that for now. Follow me."

Nick led Sam back down to the first floor and towards a kitchen. There was some noise coming from it. The sound of someone moving about, objects being moved around, and a bit of silent cursing. Saying the entire place was a mess wasn't too far from an understatement. Dishes were left everywhere and what seemed to be a smoothie was splatted across the walls. A girl was running around the kitchen trying to stop everything when she saw them come in. After a minute, she turned to face Nick and Sam with an embarrassed expression.

Sam couldn't see Nick's face, but the girl's reaction told him enough.

Nick: "Liz... I remember strictly telling you not to use the kitchen without me around... Would you like to explain yourself?"

Liz, the Mess-Maker, seemed ready to flee at a moment's notice. Sam walked to the side and started watching.

Mess-Making Girl: "I... I just thought I could make something and clean it before you got back."

She noticed Sam just watching on the sidelines. A chance to change topics.

Mess-Making Girl: " Who's that? Is he the reason your back early?"

Nick: "Yeah, I found him and hired him or at least plan to. Also, we're not done with this. Clean the kitchen and then we can discuss what we do later, with him, and about what you did."

The hope in the girl's eyes was extinguished by Nick's declaration. Sam watched Nick leave and decided to help the girl.

Sam: "What's your name? I'm Samuel Stonesword and y'all seem to be quite cozy about another."

Mess-Cleaning Girl: "Hmm... Oh.. I'm Liz Razaberry, and yeah Nick and I get along great. We've known each other for a long time now."

Sam: "Cool... *Looks around the kitchen* Want some help? I got an ability I wanna try out and it might help."

Liz: "Sure... and what's is 'ability' you're talking about? Don't you mean semblance?"

Sam: "Is that what everyone usually calls it? It might have slipped my mind since I was busy in thought before I came here. Okay, let's do this."

*Pov Swap*

Liz: 'Looking at it now, maybe trying to make something in the kitchen wasn't such a good idea after all. At least this new guy decided to help me out with an 'ability' of his.'

Looking at Sam Liz saw to dark figure slowly pull themselves from Sam. To a certain extent, it looked far more gruesome as it could be mistaking for someone tearing themselves off him. The two dark figures then took shape and just like that. Now, we have Sam #2 and a Sam #3 that became a Liz #2.

Liz: "..." "..." "What the Fu--?"
