Do all martial spirits do this?

As Damien saw this, he wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do. He had never heard of something like this before, but maybe it was something normal? He didn't know a lot after all, so maybe this was something all martial spirits does? The little snake was quite cute, so Damien was eager to give it a body-tempering pill, he had ten of them after all, a single one wouldn't hurt, right? Since that was the case, he tossed the pill towards the little snake, which quickly hissed in delight as it gobbled the pill up.

Before Damien could react to the snake's cute antics, the qi in the room seemed to sense something, as another white ray condensed behind the small martial spirit, sending the qi into a frenzy. It also looked like the small snake had grown a little compared to before. Damien was dazed, now he knew for sure that something was wrong. Even if he lacked common sense when it came to martial spirits, he knew this was something that wasn't supposed to happen. If martial spirits could grow stronger, then there was no need to discriminate based on talent, as everyone would be able to have the same talent in the end.

Before he did anything else, Damien sat down on his hard bed, and started concentrating. The qi that seemed to be in a frenzy was soon being greedily devoured by the small little snake behind him, which he then used to refine his body. This process was pretty much instinctual, as he guided the qi into his skin, based on nothing but his gut feeling. After half an hour had passed, the qi in the small hut was beginning to thin out, which prompted Damien to stop cultivating.

His breath was hot, and small amounts of steam seemed to rise from his body. His first time cultivating was quite the experience, and he wasn't entirely sure what he thought about it so far. He could feel that his martial spirit was special, and the fact that it could increase in rank was also something he had never expected. But because of that, he was also baffled about what he should do in the future. If this martial spirit of his could keep growing indefinitely, then his dream of becoming strong wouldn't be just a pipe dream anymore.

Since the secret of his martial spirit was something he didn't want anyone to know, Damien soon left the clan hastily, his destination being the small pond which he had been visiting lately. As far as he knew, no one else had ever visited this pond during the two weeks he had been going there, and therefore he saw it as his own little safe haven. When he arrived, as usual, there was no sign of anyone else being here other than him. Sitting down on a small rock next to the pond, Damien called out his martial spirit, and the small snake soon appeared behind his back, with 6 white rays accompanying it.

The small snake seemed to be excited to see Damien again, and it hissed in delight. Damien nearly started laughing as he saw this, and he retrieved his bottle of body-tempering pills from one of his pockets. After taking out one of the pills, Damien threw the small pill at the snake once again, but this time, it was a little different. The snake ate the pill, but this time, no white ray appeared behind it, it only burped cutely, before eyeing the bottle once more. Damien didn't know how the snake could even burp, but since it was a martial spirit and he was in a different world, he didn't really think twice about it.

From this small experiment, Damien could draw two conclusions. Either the martial spirit couldn't grow anymore, or it needed exponentially more pills to grow each time it grew. Even though he had no way of knowing for now, Damien favoured the latter conclusion. It would be weird if the snake could grow another white ray, to then never grow again right? Although he felt it was more likely, he didn't rule the first option out either. The only problem he had now was pills.

If he wanted to find out whether it could grow any more or not, he needed to feed it more pills, but he also needed these for his cultivation. The reason he didn't immediately feed the snake was also because of this. If he just gave all the pills to the snake, and it didn't level up, it would be a waste. If he consumed the pills, he could probably become a martialist immediately, which would lead to more pills in the future.

This forest he was in was full of wild beasts, and even demonic beasts, although there was no way for him to fight with a demonic beast for now, he could still hunt wild beasts. But to do that, he needed a bit more strength first, otherwise, he would only be courting death. Since that was the case, Damien proceeded to take out one of the pills in the bottle, and promptly swallowing it down. The gentle heat released by the pill immediately permeated into his body, gently refining every part of it.

Although the effects of the pill were pretty potent, they didn't last longer than half an hour, but after 4 hours of taking them, Damien felt like a knot in his stomach suddenly disappeared, and he felt his entire body bursting with a sudden increase in strength! With a shout, he immediately stood up and sauntered over to a nearby tree, which he proceeded to punch with full force! Regret soon filled his head as he felt immense pain in his hand.

This wasn't some superhero movie where you suddenly got strong overnight, a grade 1 martialist was only stronger than a normal person. If the normal person was skilled enough, then even if you were a grade 1 martialist you would probably be left panting on the ground. In general, a grade 1 martialist was about 2 times stronger than a normal person. Which also meant that they could also be easily besieged by three normal people. It was only in the later stages of the martialist stage that normal people could be completely ignored, and as far as Damien knew, there even higher cultivation levels after the martialist stage, that was when a cultivator would be truly strong.

With that said, he was still twice as strong as a normal person now, and with only 4 hours of hard work too. Unless he sucked at fighting or he found someone who had been training martial arts for their entire lives, he would probably be able to beat any normal person. Not that any normal person would ever want to offend a cultivator, since he would only grow stronger in the future. After 4 hours of cultivating, the day was slowly coming to an end, but Damien had one more thing he wanted to do, that's right, he headed for the martial arts hall! He only hoped that he managed to find some strong martial arts that suited him...
