Chapter 18

1995

Somewhere in the middle of the pacific ocean

Urgent Globe Summit

The UNSS agent ten nodded his head randomly to the director's explanation. The rough and well-built guard was indeed well versed in defensive tactics yet he was not interested in listening to the director of the floating headquarters. They were in the headquarters to defend and arrange the global summit which was taking place right then inside the building.

"Agent Ten, are listening to me?" The beautiful lady director asked charmingly. She had no idea why the summit was arranged without a warning. All she knew was that she was hired to arrange security for international figures while the latter chitchat about something that is supposed to be important. On the other hand, the agent had a very good insight into the chitchats. He was not interested in the conversation yet the lady's beauty had enchanted him to continue the conversation. He was well aware of the structure and procedures of the building.

To tge outside world, they are inside a huge floating mass of steel sheets. Inside the floating mass of sheets existed a massive space built to develop an underground structure that could withstand the pressure and heat of the deep ocean. Heavily guarded, right then the Summit was the worlds most safest place. There were guards dressed in black and armed with rifles and mini-machine guns, surrounding the building, keeping an eye on the open sea like an eagle. Inside the facility, the structure was constructed like a maze. It was arranged in two layers.

The first layer comprised of guards armed with customised heavy weapons, dressed in a dark green uniform. The second layer had direct access to the room where the Summit was being held. The second layer wore like a last minutes reserve. By chance if anyone infiltrates the facility. The world leaders and thinker will be escorted to the second room where a submarine would take them to safety. While they are being evacuated, a group of assassin-lookalikes will enter the room and switch places with the former. The hunter shall become the hunted. The Assasin-lookalikes are specifically chosen from all over the world and are trained to save their national figures with their lives. It was all prepared in a hurry but the lady had made sure that the arrangements had been foolproof.

Meanwhile inside the room, twenty international figures and thirty-five world leaders we're seated in chairs hiding their baffled expressions so that the one near them would not consider them to be vulnerable. In fact, none of them were anti vulnerable. All of them were physically poorly built yet withheld immense political power.

"Mr Drake, long time no see." a fair middle-aged man dressed in a black suit called out in the crowd. A man in his fifties turned towards the voice that uttered his name. It was Mr George from the UN head office. Mr Drake was the Agent in charge of the UNSS. A former associate of George. Being the agent in charge of a secret service organization Drake didn't like being acknowledged in his own name publicly. Not that many heard George call out his name yet he wanted everything followed as per the protocols. Drake gestured a hush and moved to the empty chair near George.

"Don't call me Drake. We are here to negotiate not to reconcile. I would prefer to be called as agent nought." Drake said in a firm tone with his mouth shrunk in a serious stance.

"Don't get cocky." George smirked, "In the end of the day we work under the same bloody politic. Remember that no one above no one." Drake was taken aback, hearing George's hostile words.

"I...I didn't mean it like that." Drake tried to reason with him but then decided to give up, "uhh. Never mind." He looked around at the people in the room. Important political and military figures gathered in one place. 'They just make this place vulnerable. Oh...How I hate politics and politicians. They get all the appreciation for the work the we who work in the field do!' Drake wondered and sighed.

"Can anyone tell me what's the deal with this summit." A feminine voice came from behind Drake. Drake turned to find a brown women in her forties dressed in a red saree.

"Mrs Seetha?" Drake was surprised to find her there.

"Seetha? What is the Vice President doing in a summit where only the president's presence is mandatory. Where is your president? I don't see him here." George said in a hostile tone. It was obvious that George didn't like the women. But Mrs Seetha ignored him and turned to Drake who was still shocked to see her there.

"Nice to meet you, ma'am. I am agent Zero in charge of the UNSS's section 5" Drake gave his hand. Mrs Seetha smiled and shook his hand.

"You know me?" She was not a bit surprised yet asked humbly. Secretly she loved the attention she gets in the public.

"Your reputation precedes you. Your work in the cyber defence is very promising."

"Thank you. I have been on a remote island for the past few months on the structures of an underwater cyber-station and had no idea what is been going on in the outside world. On my return, the first thing the President asks me to do is to attend a summit instead of him. It happened without a warning and I had no time to catch up." Mrs Seetha said casually. Drake understood that she was showing off but she was not exaggerating anything.

"Underwater cyber station?" Drake's jaws dropped open.

"Prohibited material. Only for the ISS." Mrs Seetha winked, " However, could you please do me the honour of catching up?"

"My pleasure, ma'am."

"Oh guess you two can't see that I am here too," George grumbled. Drake perfectly knew that if he acknowledges him, he will turn out to be a real pain in the rear. Both Drake and Mrs Seetha ignored George and continued. With no other option, George shifted his place near a politician who was busy bragging on how he had stopped evaporation with plastic sheets! Unfortunately he never realized that he was just adding extra pollution.

"So tell me. What is the issue?" Mrs Seetha asked again?

"In the past few weeks, there have been multiple terrorist attacks." Drake explained, " Isreal, Algeria, Iraq, Colombia, Japan."

"Come on, don't tell me this is all about some random terrorist attack. Can't the countries deal with it themselves?" Mrs Seetha asked out too loud. Some of the presidents there turned around and made a face at her. Obviously not everyone appreciates feminine dominance. Many in the room didn't want a female figure there. Many even thought that her position was initially influenced by her husband, the president.
