I slowly walked up the stairwell, looking around for any sign of the ages champions. As always now, I found none. I wasn't even sure if they had gone this far? Maybe they were still in the library somewhere, or even lower than that, I just did not know…
As I reached the top of the stairwell and arrived in front of another one of the doorways, I stepped back subconsciously and then began to use the 'sense vision' to see if there were any more weird gatherings of magic lights, to my surprise though, when the figure appeared to give me my riddle or maybe a task o pass through to the next floor, I found that he had no magic lights!
This confused me, as he should have been made of magic lights, being an illusion. If he wasn't doesn't that mean he is really? No, that can't be right. He is not real. If he was he would be able to respond to my questions instead of just repeating the same thing over and over. So then what even is he?
Then the monotonous voice of the figure began to drone out.
"To pass to the next floor you must prove that you are worthy of knowledge. You have already proved you can use your light and that you are worthy of the light itself, but are you worthy of the knowledge….So what is the strongest race on this world?"
I froze and that question. It was impossible to answer! I don't even know if I know all of the races in this world currently! Let alone the races as when this test could be made! How is this a question relating to magic anyway? I thought this is a magic tower, not just a history tower!
The voice then carried on after a brief pause, "You have five minutes to answer..."
I froze, how can I answer this in five minutes? For one how can the makers of this tower know that the strongest race will always be the strongest for one? Not only that but do they refer to now or then? Well, if I just take it as it is, they would have made this tower last for a long time, so they should have thought about this... All races have their perks and downsides too, ultimately no race is stronger than the other in pure birth. So what if….
Decisively I said, "No race is the strongest. All are ultimately equal."
The figure seemed like it froze for a second as it heard my answer, then it droned on with, "Good answer. You may pass to the next floor."
As soon as it finished speaking, the figure vanished yet again and the door opened on its own, revealing a vast room. This room is covered in massive mats. There were five mats across and from what I could see, five mats forward as well. Making for a total of twenty-five mats, spread out across the floor of the room.
I stepped out into the room, standing on one of the mats. As soon as both of my feet were on the mat. A barrier came up entrapping me onto that mat. I quickly turned around to head back out of the doorway but found that the barrier was blocking that off as well.
Turning back around, I found that another figure had appeared before me. It was a lot like that of the illusionary figure that had been giving me the riddles to do but instead, this one had a two-handed staff in its hand and seemed to be wearing some long white robes like which some mages would be wear. It was a little funny, to be honest. Ignoring that though, the figure itself did not seem like it could harm me, at least none of my senses were screaming at out me to run which was nice.
Then as soon as I thought of that, the figure to a step forward, around it. I could see that multiple spells began to form at once. Every step it took closer to me, the spells began to form even more. With my 'sense vision' I could see that it was gathering the ice attributed lights together for what I assumed would be some kind of ice type magical attack. After the brief few seconds of my observation, I sprung into action.
Quickly sending to fireballs towards the figure, which is blocked! The staff in its hands moved rapidly heating both of my attacks. As it did two explosions occurred where each one blew up. The figure itself though did not stop moving at all and took another step forward the spells forming up even more.
I sent more and more spells out, of both the fire and dark type. Each and everyone was blocked by the staff in the hands of the figure. Finally, I had, had enough.
Performing some enhancements spells, I dashed forward with my sword in hand. This time I will just cut you in half!
I reached the advancing figure in record time, branding my sword in quick concession sending out attack after attack aimed at all sides of its body. I watched as the staff in its hands moved around blocking every one of my attacks. I was not disappointed though, in fact, I have a little smirk on my face.
Boom!
A fireball hit the figure right in the back of its head!
The figure then disappointed in full. Leaving nothing behind to show the battle that I just had thought. Once it was fully gone, the barrier surrounding the mat that I was on disappeared as well. It was like nothing had ever happened!
I walked over to the edge of the mat and looked at the next one warily. I had a faint promotion that the same thing, will just happen again and I will be forced to fight another one of these dam figures.
With a small sigh, I stepped onto the next mat, and just as I had guessed a barrier appeared, blocking me off from the other mats. Soon after that, another figure appeared. I did almost exactly what I had done before, this time ending the fight before it could get underway.
This I repeated two more times, and now was just left with more barrier to cross before I could leave this floor and carry on with my ascension of the tower. As I stepped onto the mat, the barrier appeared again but unlike before the figure did not appear straight away. Instead, what appeared was me?
I stood there looking shocked for a second, the other me though did not. And instead began to send out a multitude of different spells towards me. Cursing my luck, I moved to the side dodging the attacks. Behind me, I heard a cacophony of explosions and thudding noises as the various spells all impacted into the ground, where I had been standing.
I didn't even have to look behind me, to know that, that would have hurt a lot. Instead, I dashed straight over the other me, with the idea of beating it just like I had done, with the others. After all, I only needed to land one attack so that It would disappear. Just one.
As I moved forwards, I attacked with spells to see if they would have any effect. Not surprising me much, the other me, blocked or dodged all of the attacks in quick succession. Just as I was away from him by about two meters. He conjured up two weapons in each other his hands. A flaming sword, and a sword of darkness.
My eyes twitched at this. Does he know all of my spells or something?
He then attacked me, moving in closer with both swords swinging at me from different angles. If it wasn't for me stopping, both of those words would have cut me in half.
Then seeing an opportunity, I swung my sword down start at his head, while having a fireball attack him from the other side.
The figure though, almost as if he had predicted this would happen already. Moved out of the path of the fireball, and redirected my sword's blow to the ground, in the next breath it was using its sword to stab into me.
The fighting continued like this for probably at least ten minutes now, each of us parrying, or dodging the other's attacks before making our own. At this point though I had noticed something else. The other me seemed to be getting tired. Or to be more accurate it was starting to fade away. Seeing my chance, I switched to being fully defensive and deciding to just wear out the other me.
My plan worked!
After another five minutes of fighting the other me completely faded away and the barrier came down, finally allowing me to pass through the doorway and get off of this weird floor.
