Xia's Mother

The midnight visitors was gone now, but Zachary Benedict stood nailed on his place. The sound of nocturnal animals intensifies, it was mingled by the loud drumming of his heart, and his own harsh breathing.

He felt that the truth had been slapped on his face using a violent force. Until now he still suffered from the impact. He wanted to move but he can't control his numb feet.

The wind blew past him and he shuddered as it seeped through his neck, the ability to feel the wind reminds him that he is wide awake. What he heard was real.

The rustling of dried leaves alerted his senses and he shifted his gaze to where the sound was coming from. He discovered the noise was only created by the billowing wind so he lowered his guard but not entirely. Incase someone suddenly arrives without him knowing he could just hide there and watch.
