The Truth

The sight of him nearly gave Angelica Marie a mini heart attack. And when he lowered his head to look at her, there she saw his hazel brown eyes looking at her intently. She gasped. Her knees almost melted from the heat of that gaze while her throat nearly turned into an arid desert.

"H-how long have you been standing there?" Her voice quivered from shock. 

"Long enough to hear everything." He replied truthfully, never once taking his gaze off her face. 

"I'm sorry Hary." She said softly and lowered her gaze to the floor. She was now cornered, there's no way she could tell a quick lie which he will believe. Like a mouse, she jumped right into a trap.

Zachary Benedict gently captured her chin into his thumb and forefinger and forced her to look deep into his eyes.

"You don't need to be sorry." He replied and slowly pulled a picture on his pocket. "Is she your daughter?"
