It had just been an hour since Ge Liang had a heated conversation with his system, and he was still angry. What the hell kind of system makes life hard for its host?

*Host, shut up!*

Wow, so the system had feelings too.... Anyways, he was in a quandary. He had to figure out how to earn money while fulfilling the system's expectations!

*Host, you have qualified for the beginner's gift*

I'll claim it! What is it though...

Appraisal of System Beginner Gift:

Beginner's Gift (Uncommon System Reward)

Can increase your proficiency in any skill in Trash Grade by 1 level.

Yes! If those fries that he was making at the restaurant were Trash Low grade fries, imagine how higher grade fries would taste.... Yum! But he couldn't just sell them at a fast-food place or a street market stall... Hey! This was the Ultimate Economic System, he could just create a business! But, now that he was thinking about it, he... didn't really know how to create one!

*Host, the system can advise you on how to make a business when you have upgraded to Level 2 System!*

Wow.... what a greedy system. There was just no other option... he had to spend a week or 2 at the fast food store, mindlessly pumping out fries and hash browns.

However, on the third day of working at that shop, fries and hash browns stopped giving him Cooking EXP. It seemed Ge Liang would have to cook different and better foods to keep progressing. At first, Ge Liang wanted to make use of that Beginner's gift and upgrade a level, but he also knew that there were probably many other skills, and he should save it for when he needed it. Imagine there was a skill that cost 5000 EXP for the first level and the system told him to get it levelled up! Ge Liang was just horrified at the possibilities, so he decided to keep the upgrade with him for the time being.

1207 fries packets later, Ge Liang was at last free of that damn system upgrade cost. There was finally $1000 in his pocket, though admittedly it had taken him a whole month as he had classes and responsibilities.

*System Upgrade to Level 2*

*Yes or No?

Yes.

*Level 2 upgrade beginning...*

*ETA to Upgrade 1 day*

I've worked so hard for this day and you have the nerve to tell me to wait a whole day? Sigh.... the system truly was mean. The whole day it was upgrading, Ge Liang was prancing around like he had the winning lottery tickets and he couldn't wait to redeem them. His usually imperceptive roommates asked: "Ge Liang, did you have a seizure from your injury? You don't usually dance like that...."
