Test time

As the carriage slowed, two men gradually walked up. As they opened the doors for us, looked out astonished to see a snow white castle.

"Follow me." Jefferson said tilting his head slightly in the direction we were walking. "We need to get you cleaned up, and put in fresh clothing before the test."

As we walked in, two maids rushed over, and grabbed both of my hands. "I'll wait for you in the royal library, to begin the first test!" Jefferson yelled as the maids rushed me into a room.

The maids quickly removed all of my garments. They were either really strong or I was just that light, because they were able to lift me up, and threw me into a huge tub of warm water. When they finished washing me, even though I insisted in doing that myself, they put me into a cotton dress. Nothing too fancy, thankfully, but more of something I could easily put armor over.

They then escorted me to the royal library, where Jefferson was waiting for me.

"Ah.... young Eve! Are you ready to begin?"

"I think so..."

"Great! Let's get started!" He sounded very hopeful as he brought a box wrapped in silk. He opened it, and to my dismay, it was a wand. "I don't understand. Why is it a wand?"

"Well, since you asked, it is said that when the king was younger, the wand glowed every time he touched it."

"So you're saying that you, and everyone else here, are trying to determine whether or not a child is the next heir by having them pick up a stupid stick, just to see if it glows?"

"Well, yes. This is one of many true legends."

"So, you're telling me that if that stick glows when I touch it, then I'd be a princess? Just because you think a legend is real?" I quickly grabbed the wand and yelled "Look! It's just a stupid... little... stick?" The wand glowed uncontrollably as I spoke, until it shot a lightning bolt, and caught a book on fire.

"She's the princess!"Jefferson yelled out into the hallway. I heard it echo from people's voices. "Oh boy. What did I get myself in to?"
