Too Careful Around Two Ladies

"Why are you crying now?" He let out a frustrated sigh as he leaned his face forward to confirm his suspicion.

True to his thought, it wasn't the light playing with his sight and mind, it was indeed her tears which were leaving a glimmering trail in their go. What he couldn't think of was the why. Why was she crying?

It was understandable when he looked at Katherine's trembling figure. She was shedding those tears in memory of her long lost cat. But why had Lillian started crying out so suddenly. As far he could recall, she was completely fine on their way to the mansion.

Though she didn't say much in response to Katherine sobs, she kept giving her back occasional pats. There was not a sliver of emotion which had crossed her face even when Blake had stolen glances at the backseat through the rear view mirror.

He couldn't pinpoint what had gotten wrong now, and why was she crying like this.

"Lillian? Are you okay?" He could only ask her about it.

"Y-yes." A stuttering reply was what he got which was followed by a couple of sniffs as she tried to compose herself. It didn't need a genius to tell that she was definitely lying to him.

"Then why are you crying?" He took a step forward and settled down on the other end of the sofa such that he was facing her. He looked straight ahead at her tear streamed face as he asked her once again. "Why are you crying, little one?"

"I am not." Lillian shook her head slightly as she replied to him with a no. She was looking everywhere but at him even when she couldn't make his face with her tear filled eyes. All she saw was blurred images of objects, yet she tried to maintain a strong front.

"Are you sure?" Blake questioned her as he raised his right hand to give Katherine a couple of pats on the back.

"Y-yes." Lillian sniffed and replied, still keeping her eyes away from his face.

"Then why is it that your eyes are leaking water if you are not crying?" Blake let out a light chuckle as he tilted his head to the right to have a better look at her face.

"They are not." Lillian knew she was being stubborn, but even she didn't know why she was crying. What was she supposed to say to him?

"Oh, come on! Why can't just you tell me?" He demanded, no backing out. He was starting to get worried about her health. He had no idea if her body could even bear shedding tears like this.

'I have to give Mrs. Jackson a call after I am done with this.' Blake made a mental note so that he could finally release a sigh of relief later on. No matter how good she was doing, or how well she was eating, his mind would only be at peace after Mrs. Jackson would tell him that Lillian was doing fine.

"I am crying because she is crying." Lillian finally gave in as she trailed her tear filled eyes back to his face.

Her words left Blake stunned for a while.

"What?" He managed to say as he stared back at her.

"Yeah." She mumbled as she gave Katherine another pat on the back. For some reason she was snow crying less than before which was good for both Blake and her.

"Are you kidding me?" Blake frowned as he stared back at her tear stained face. If she had said that she was feeling bad over how Mr. Blitz had died. He might have bought her words right away because it was somewhat believable. But no, she was crying because Katherine was crying.

Blake didn't know whether he should laugh at that, or just cry and join the duo on their tear shedding escapade.

"Will you two just stop with it already?" He exhaled out a long breath as he tried to pull Katherine away from Lillian. He knew that there would be no end to it if the two young ladies continued to cling to each other any longer.

With great difficulty, he pulled back Katherine and wrapped his arms around her stomach to make sure that she wouldn't jump into Lillian's arms once again.

"I get it that you are sad Katherine, but how long are you going to take to stop with your tearing?" He spoke right next to her ear.

"Mr. Blitz…" Katherine mumbled as she sniffed a couple of times.

"I get it that you are sad, but look what you are doing to Lillian. You made her cry too." Blake didn't want to do this, but this was the only way to make sure that Katherine stopped with her crying.

He knew his sister too well. There was no way that she would let someone else cry. She would do anything in her power to stop it.

"What?" Katherine sniffed as she looked at Lillian who had her cheeks stained with tears.

"Why are you crying?" She muttered in a nasal tone as she splayed her arms open for her. "Come here." She called her out with a small pitiful smile resting on her face.

"No!" Blake pulled her back, making sure that she stayed in her place. He could not have these two girls hugging each other once again.

"You are the one who made her cry, Katty." Blake tried to keep her mind on the top.

"I did?" Katherine looked up at him briefly and asked him only to get a couple of nods in return.

"Yes, you did. Now she can not stop crying because you are. How can you do that to our guest?" Blake added smartly before he pursed her lips together.

"Aww… there's no need for you to cry. I was missing Mr. Blitz that is why I was crying, Lillian. I am not crying now." Katherine added as she hurriedly wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"On another note, let's get you upstairs. I will show you your new room." Katherine continued as she moved out of Blake's grip and stood up. "You should stop crying too now that I am not." She helped Lillian up and started to guide her towards the staircase as she watched her wipe her tears off.

Seeing the two girls finally getting hold of themselves, Blake slumped on the sofa as he exhaled out a long breath. Though he didn't rest for too long. Only a couple of seconds had passed that he jumped back on his feet and began to walk in the same direction as the girls.

'One can never be too careful around two ladies.'
