Level Up + Loot!

When Elo woke up again, he felt a little dizzy. It was not as bad as the last time he had levelled up, but it was still confusing.

As he sat up, the other two opened their eyes as well. It seemed like everybody would be knocked out for about the same time. When Gorden sat up too, he looked really excited.

"You were right back then. I actually got a skill as soon as I put three points in one stat, it seems like this system likes specializations. "Gorden laughed wholeheartedly. "I took the Endurance skill "Shield Basher", with this skill I can attack with a shield. The damage is calculated by adding my Endurance stat to the shield's defence."

Even though Gorden had sounded pretty happy about his decision, the other three were a bit dumb folded. Ella was the one who spoke out, what the others were thinking.

"But we don't even have a shield, how would you use that skill?"

When Gorden saw, that the others agreed, he started laughing again. He looked like a little child who was happy that his prank had worked out just the way he wanted.

"We don't have a shield yet, but you have to think about the long-term too. With this skill, I can be the perfect tank for our team. I only need a good shield, and then I can protect you and attack at the same time, even though I will only need to level my Endurance stat."

-"If you think about it that way, he is right. It's actually pretty useful, especially for the team. One person can take all the hits, and the others can attack. Well done, Gorden."-

Elo started smiling. He was surprised that there were such kids of skills, but the one Gorden had taken was very interesting.

"Ok, that sounds good. But we still have this little box, and it's only noon, so I think we should start killing skeletons until we can open this box."

Elo really wanted to know what a very rare item could do and it seemed like Gorden had the same feeling. As soon as Elo mentioned the box, his eyes lit up.

"Ok, let's do this."

The way out of the dungeon took them about 10 minutes, and they had no problems exiting, because of their self-made entrance. On the whole way, they didn't even see one rat. When they came out of the dungeon, Elo saw that the sun was still at its highest point in the sky, which meant that there was still much time left before they had to go back.

"Ok guys, I think we should split up, that way it will be way faster for us to get enough coins. I'm pretty sure every one of you will have no problem dealing with the skeletons by now.

Let's meet back here again when all of you have two coins. The last one can return as soon as he sees that the others are here again because we only need another 5 coins."

Elo showed them the 5 coins they already had. "I am going the wait here for you, good luck."

When the others had swarmed out, Elo sat on a big stone, that had fallen down from one of the old buildings. He opened his inventory.

When Elo woke up for the third time this day, he only felt a little tired.

-"It seems like my body is getting used to level up, it doesn't feel bad at all now.

Anyways, let's take a look at my items."-

Before anyone came back, Elo had already looked through all the items. They had enough meat to survive a month because of the rats. He had secretly mixed one of the rat meats into the meal this morning, and nobody had realized. That meant that eating rat meat was no problem.

The other things he had were some crafting materials, his soul gems and the ancient box they wanted to open. The only thing that seemed to be interesting was the key, the "hell rat" had dropped.

A key that connects the dungeons first floor with the second one. Can be enquired by killing the boss of the first floor."

-"It seems that there is a second floor, which most likely also means that there are even more than that. Clearing the dungeon is a great way to farm soul gems.

We have to come back here tomorrow and check if the dungeon monsters also respawn. And we also have to take a look at the next floor of this dungeon. If the floor is still manageable for us, we can go further down to farm more gems. This way, our entire team can level up pretty fast.

But we have to be cautious if someone else finds this city, we may have to protect it. We don't want others to steal the drops and beat us up after they have levelled up."

When Elo suddenly heard footsteps, he jumped up and was about to run away, when he recognized Ella. Because he had thought about potential enemies, he had instinctively tensed up as soon as he heard another person.

Ella smiled worriedly.

"Is everything alright? You look quite stressed."

When Elo realized that Ella was right, he relaxed his face and started smiling.

"No sorry, everything is ok. Let's wait for the others."

After about 10 minutes, Lara arrived, and Gorden came a few minutes later. But he didn't look happy at all.

"I had rotten luck today. I only just got my first coin!"

He seemed to be really pissed. But then his expression smoothed.

"Let's open the box already. I want to see what's inside."

When the coins and the box appeared in Elo's palms, a screen appeared in front of him.

"Ding"

"You possess 10/10 ancient gold coins. Do you want to open the box?"

When Elo approved, the box admitted a green light while it slowly opened. Then the box disappeared, and a silver-shimmering ring appeared. Small black lines seemed to be engraved in the ring, and it looked pretty exquisite.
