"Alright mom, dad. I just miss you so much. You don't even bother to call me." She was sulking.
"Okay I'm sorry my daughter, it's already late. You have to go now before it gets dark." They told her to leave.
Jean Mary was downhearted because she wasn't even able to stay even just for an hour. God knows that she really misses her parents. Everything in her now is unfamiliar, even her indulging parents was indifferent. They never understand that she's also suffering from separation anxiety. For 18 years, this is the first time she stayed away from home for too long. She's just hoping that her parents would not be anymore weary of the Reynolds family.
"Okay, I'll get going. Goodbye mom and dad." She bid them goodbye.
She was walking towards the road to call for a cab when an old woman approached her. She was startled because the old woman grabbed her arm and said so many words that she could not understand at all because she was so afraid of the old woman's sudden actions.
"Let go of me grandma, please, let go of me." She wanted to push the old lady but she realized that she's too old and maybe she mistook her for someone.
But the old woman held her firmly and said, "Child, a negative aura surrounds you. Death is following you."
Upon hearing her words, Jean Mary's face turned pale. A cold sensation enveloped her. "What do you mean grandma? Why?" She asked.
"You're surrounded with misfortune. Be vigilant and observant. Not all are true to you." the old woman warned and let her go. The old woman left without waiting her response.
She has many things to ask her. What does she know? Why all of these are happening to her? She thought to herself. She had not yet recovered from the news when she heard a car's sound. She turned herself to where the sound was coming from and there she saw a familiar car. Mr. Smith got out from the driver's seat and approached her.
"Ms. Caster, the young master was worried about you. You didn't even inform him where were you going. He guessed that you might went home to your parents and he was right. Please let us go back to the mansion." Mr. Smith said to her.
"Yes Mr. Smith, I am sorry for not informing you. I was out of my mind not to ask you permission. I just missed them." She apologized right away.
"Ms. Caster, you don't have to apologize to me." Mr. Smith said.
She and Mr. Smith went straight to car and Jean Mary sat next to Jan with one seat apart distance.
"I'm sorry Jan." She asked for forgiveness from Jan.
But Jan didn't accept her apology instead he said, "Maybe you are bored staying in our mansion. You can go back anytime you want." Jan informed her. For Jan, he doesn't want Jean Mary to feel sad and alone. He couldn't bear to see Jean Mary being depressed.
She misunderstood him and thought that he was angry. "No, I will stay." She insisted, next time she visit her parents, she'll make sure to ask his permission.
"Mr. Smith, don't go straight to the mansion. Let's eat in a restaurant." He said.
"Hmmm. Alright." Jean agreed.
They had their dinner outside and Jan was very happy. He took it as their first date.
When they arrived at the mansion from the restaurant, Jean immediately went to her room and didn't bother to inform Jan.
Jan was puzzled for her cold treatment to him. So, Jan decided to visit Jean to her room. He knocked.
Jean Mary heard knocks from the door and guessed that it was Jan. "Come in."
"Good evening Jean." He asked.
"Good evening." She answered.
"How are you today? Are you feeling sick? Why did you skip school?" Too many questions he asked.
Jean noticed that Jan is becoming more and more talkative. "Just one question at a time please." She demanded.
Jan felt shy by her remarks and said, "Sorry, I am just worried about you." He looked down to ground with his voice sounded low.
"I just missed my parents, that's all." It's true, she really misses her parents.
"Do you want to ask them to move here?" Jan suggested.
But Jean Mary thought that her parents are not comfortable with the Reynolds so she refused. "No thanks Jan. It is okay, I'll just visit them often."
Jan's sour expression didn't escape Jean Mary's sharp eyes. She then concluded that she was right to refuse his offer.
"Okay, if that's what you like, I can't insist." He cannot force Jean Mary to follow him and he respects her decisions. "Hmmm... Do you have something else to do?" He asked Jean again.
"I am just about to study because we have a test tomorrow." She truthfully said.
"Okay, I will go back to my room so you could continue." He then took his leave because she didn't want for Jean Mary to fail.
Ironically, Jean Mary didn't have the time to study. There are many thoughts running in her mind that made her feel worried.
