Meeting The Parents (Part 1)

Master Xia woke up today feeling like this day would be an excellent one. This might be partially due to the delicious dinner that he had eaten the previous night.

In fact, his steps were filled with vigor and enthusiasm that Madam Xia could not help but be influenced by her husband.

However, as soon as they had reached the stairs, they were met with this tense atmosphere.

Master Xia's sharp eyes surveyed the crowd and he noticed the tiny creases on his youngest son's suit as well as on the young man next to him.

His brows were slightly furrowed as he tried to figure out what had happened before they had arrived.

Was there bad blood between that pale-looking young man and his son?

But it didn't seem like it!

Just by looking at the infatuated look on Xia Jinhu's face while he stole a few glances over at the young man, Master Xia immediately discarded that thought.

Receiving no response to the question he had posed, Master Xia had no other choice but to turn to Butler Zuo. "What happened here?"

As a loyal butler of the Xia Family for many years now, Butler Zuo could be considered as one of the trusted aides of Xia Renjian.

"A pleasant morning to you, Master and Madam!" Butler Zuo did not forget to greet the husband and wife. "There is not a need for you to worry. We are truly fortunate that nothing serious has happened, thanks to this young man here."

Hearing Butler Zuo's report, Master Xia did not ask for more details about the matter. He was much more interested in knowing about the two young men who seemed to be twin brothers.

Upon noticing the inquisitive gazes directed at them, Di Yi and Di Er stood attentively before giving a courteous bow.

"Good morning!" They said in unison.

Di Yi then just repeated his earlier introduction, "I am Di Yi and this is my younger brother Di Er."

Observing them at the side, Butler Zuo nodded his head in satisfaction. He was right to think highly of Di Yi and Di Er.

These two were not bad indeed.

...

After they had introduced themselves as Xia Jiannan's bodyguards, Master Xia and Madam Xia found out through Xia Jinhu himself that he was saved by Di Yi.

There's no need to ask how Xia Jinhu narrated his 'Knight in shining armor saves the Prince' story to his parents. After all, everyone was aware of how melodramatic he could be.

But listening to what he had just said, minus all the exaggerations, Master Xia and Madam Xia naturally felt indebted to Di Yi for saving their son.

Although a simple meal could not equate to what he had done for the youngest member of their family, the Xia Family still wanted to show their deepest gratitude.

Thus, Di Yi and Di Er were dumbfounded as they suddenly found themselves being ushered inside the dining room.

"Um..."

"Excus—"

They were not even given a chance to decline before Madam Xia practically dragged them to their seats.

"No excuses. Come, eat with us!"

Knowing that they would not be able to leave unless they accepted their generosity, Di Yi and Di Er decided to just go with the flow and sat at the table.

"Thank you!"

Seated opposite them were Master Xia, Madam Xia and Xia Jinhu. On the other hand, Xia Jiannan sat right next to Di Yi, much to Di Er's dislike.

The long dining table was full of various mouthwatering dishes that looked extremely appetizing.

This so-called "simple breakfast" was actually nothing close to the word simple as it was much more of a banquet.

"You should definitely try this! It's the specialty dish of our Chef!" Madam Xia cheerfully skipped over to serve Di Yi and Di Er chicken adobo.

The bright smile plastered on Madam Xia's face made her look a lot younger than she really was.

"How is it? Does it taste good?"

Di Yi was not totally unfamiliar with Philippine dishes as she had stayed in the Philippines for a few years. But she was actually surprised to see such food here.

"It tastes just as delicious as the native one." Di Yi genuinely complimented.

Madam Xia thought that they did not know about adobo so she had introduced it to them, hence, she was quite surprised by Di Yi's response.

"Is it really?" Madam Xia was getting excited by the second. "Our chef is actually a Filipino! Would you like to meet him some other time?"

As the two of them spoke to each other, the males in the room could only munch silently on their own food, not daring to interrupt their conversation.

It was not until Di Yi had almost finished the food on his plate that Madam Xia paused her chattering.

"You should eat more! You're too skinny and pale! Besides, you'll need a lot of energy to perform your duty!" Madam Xia urged while putting more and more food on Di Yi's plate.

The four males inside the room were practically treated like air.
