Meeting the King

Imperial City,

Situated at the Central region of the Kingdom, The Imperial city locally known as Peace City as the name suggests, is a beautiful and peaceful city surrounded by Valley's and seeing the streams with the white mists of the winter mornings and the warm dazzling rays of the sun covering the trees, the chirping of the birds(Yes, the trees are evergreen and the climate is not freezing cold), the droplets on the spider webs in the nearby wild plants, A shoal of fishes swimming in the clear streams with the cool breeze giving off a heavenly and relaxing sensation compared to the murderous environment of war.

Infront of Aaron was 'The City Walls' that were tall enforced Stone walls with numerous Guards, Archer's and few *imperial scouts that cannot be seen even from the Sharp-sighted and experienced Aaron, but Aaron knew their presence as he was once the captain of the city guards. The Only entry to the city was through the city gates, a giant door which reached upto a height of 10 feet and where the guard's were posted. The nearby trees had been cleared off (upto 50 meter's), so that any intruders could be seen afar in clear sight.

After Aaron confirmed his identity, the doors were opened and he alongwith the army entered the City.

Entering the city, the first thing he saw was people scurrying here and there with it being a daily sight of the Commoner's and the Peasants. These people were wearing old worn out clothes with a few wearing new, but ordinary clothes. There were guards posted and with the current King being very powerful but kind, the Commoner's and Peasants were free from the previous suppression (not really) from the Nobles and the tax being reduced significantly in the eyes of people (not much in real due to court politics). The King was therefore loved and respected by these people and hated by most Nobles.

After moving through the guards named by the king as 'City Affairs Officers' (Literally translated from their language), who were placed by the current King to keep peace and security, Aaron immediately saw an even busier Market which was the Merchants Area which had many stalls set up with many daily and exotic items such as Spices, Herbs, Silk, Wheat, Pulses .. .. . . and a few people checking out the shop's containing the Cultivation manuals to practice and develop their Spirit and Potions to increase and/or to improve the Quality of the Cultivator's Spirit and to enlarge the meridians of the Cultivator

(Will be explained in future).

Seeing a kid holding his mother's hand laughing and jumping, Aaron seemed to be reminded of something as a Sad smile came to his face. But he quickly controlled those emotions and kept moving. After walking for a while, they reached another wall which seemed to be bigger and sturdier than the outer walls.

The so called 'Inner Walls' was not only a wall but a harsh reminder of the social boundary between the the Rich and the Aristocratic Nobles and on the other side was the commoner's and the peasants, with the kings palace being at the center of the inner area. The commoner's and peasants are never allowed to enter the inner walls unless they were the slaves of the Noble's. And what was the people's King doing?. He was tied by the court politics and the major families of the kingdom keeping him in check and not allowing him to make any drastic changes.

Currently the value of slaves was of trash, but it was times better than before when they had no value and were killed mostly not due to hunger or disease, but due to merciless torture and the reason for their deaths were that they deserved it (Don't ask me, ask the Noble's for their 'common sense'). Aaron who was one of the commoner's hated this system and always thought of how to change this. Was the King really dead?

Aaron who was deep in thoughts was suddenly interrupted by a huge commotion taking place in the streets....
